Top 10 things I love about my 993
10 Can’t be confused for a Mitsubishi (or anything else)
9 Ride quality of a go-kart
8 Speedometer half blocked by steering wheel
7 No sound deadening
6 Can’t reach stereo controls easily from driver’s seat
5 Air conditioner controls are obscured by steering wheel
4 Biggest gauge is the tachometer
3 3 Oil gauges
2 No Cupholder
1 No Antifreeze needed
By the way - none of these items are meant with any sarcasm. I figure anyone who "gets" Porsche's will "get" the list. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

LOL so true on all 10 points, but here's how I addressed them:
10. Totally true, and at least our cars don't get confused between Boxsters and 996's either
9. Lower it some more and it will be a go cart on rails!
8. Who cares, who really pays atention to the Speedo on the car when driving a truly fast sports car? I sure don't (sometimes "cruise" at over 100)
7. Hey it's not a Lexus/Benz, so might as well live with it and get even louder mufflers and motorsound /modded airbox!
6. Get a stereo with a remote. Or just set it at the beginning of your drive, or get your co-pilot (aka significant other) to fiddle with the controls.
5. Air conditioner? It robs power from the engine! Doesn't bother me in the nice mild weather of the bay area. Would rather go sunroof down or open windows anyways on those warmer days.
4. Tach is the most important gauge! Easy to see and what you look at almost 90% of the time when you look at the gauges
3. Hey it's air/oil cooled. Also very pertinent info!
2. Cupholders? No one drinks in my car, and I drive a stick. So need both hands free.
1. It's air/oil cooled again. Is that one reason why we boguht it?

Radar - Since I bought the car over a month ago, about 95% of my college of my car has come from Rennlist. One of the best investments I made was becoming a paid Rennlist member.
MetalSolid - So true, people keep telling me "Oh so you bought a NEW car, you MUST have money." and then having to explain the price I paid would probably have bought me a fully optioned brand new V6 Honda Accord, or an SUV. And after explaining that it is used, trying to justify why economically makes better sense than buying new (better depreciation, lower actual usage cost compared to an SUV, etc.). I'll be laughing to the bank when I sell my car in 5 years from now only losing maybe 20% of the value of the car compared to about 60% or more on a run-of-the-mill new car.

Absolutely agree. If I have to pick one -- the tachometer is it:

It is really weird that 996 cocpit is so cluttered. I took days to get somehow used to! Hope, they correct it in 997. Tachometer is in 996 still in central position:

Guess what is in central position in Cayenne. I think that you dont figure it out by yourself. It is radio station RDS info (running) and outside temp!!!!

Great list C4S4ME!!!
Not sure what Ray's post is all about? I am not sure what you ruined...I am sure there is humor there as well!
Another one...no idiot lights telling you how high to rev during engine warm up.

Top 1 thing for me:
It's looks .
Everytime I go into the garage I can't believe how gorgeous that car is. I have never felt this way about any other car, even exoticars. I like the looks of many exoticars, but I wouldn't want to own one as they stand out TOO much for me. I just love my little C4S in boring silver.
Happy as a clam,
Steve
