993 3.8 RSR Tail needs a good home...
I installed the 993 3.8 RSR tail...as I result I am running in a class where I need to reduce about 300 Lbs. out of the car to be competitive...that is not going to happen, and I can't diet away that much weight even with Atkins. Therefore, I am going to sell this tail and re-install the 993RS tail. If you are interested, take a peek at the classifieds.

WHERE WERE YOU TWO WEEKS AGO!!!!!! I just bought a turbo s tail from MA Shaw!! If you don't get any bites I still might be interested. I kept going back & forth between the two tails. Infact because I'm thinking about racing I did't go with that tail to keep from getting bumped up a class!! My WHITE 993 is in the body shop getting my new tail & GT2 front spoiler installed as we speak!! That would have been perfect!!! Well keep me informed!

If you remove the top element of the spoiler before the race you do not get bumped a class. You can check out my pictures from the race with the spoiler without the top element. Its handy really when you decide to move up a class to keep the same spoiler.

Martin,
So you can run in competively (some kind of stock) class with RS tail & splitters but not with tail that has a wing, correct?
Is this Porsche Club Racing or SCCA or? I'll get (I've been debating between RS or RS Clubsport) tail & splitters and if it's RS stuff, I'll stay in less modified class & be competive, I assume.
Not that I'm thinking Club Racing...

Finn PCA racing has the rule I told you. I have the factory RSCS spoiler on the back of the blue car without the top element and I did not get bumped a class. I stayed in D stock. Splitters of front spoilers are pretty much free.

In Porsche Owners Club, if I remove the leading edge surface, then I can run in "L" Production, with the wing in, I am kicked up to V2, past Production class, and do not get the benefits of the 13 points that would be available to me in Production.
So I am thinking that I'll just go back to the 993RS wing and let someone who can use the 3.8 RSR wing have at it.
I'll miss the 3.8 RSR wing, but then, it will have a good home where it will get to go real fast and provide 160 Lbs. of downforce at 9 degrees of wing down angle, at 170 mph. These are the Porsche factory specs for the 993RS CS., practically the same tail.
And if it does not sell soon, I can certainly live with the wing. It is in beautiful shape.

The pacing item is leading edge wing. Although the Aerokit 1 and 1B have a leaduing edge, you would not get bumped up because the Aerokit 1 and 1B are/were available from a US Porsche dealer. Since the Turbos S is about the same as a Aero Kit 1/1B, I am pretty sure this would be OK as well.
The 3.8 RSR kit was not available for US Porsche cars from a US dealer, and it has an adjustable leading edge wing that provides a definite performance advantage, providing 160 Lbs. of downforce at 170 mph. The 993RS tail provides 0 down force but then again, it serves to eliminate any lift. Porsche claims 0 lift at 170 mph using the 993 RS tail.
