Riviera blue C4S... opinions on color??
Still haven't found a 993 yet... but I ran across a 97 C4S w/27k miles Riviera blue/ gray interior. Anyone on the list own this color? I like it because it's different but the wife is not crazy about it. I don't think there were many made in this color but not sure. Opinions welcomed. BTW, I can get it for mid 40's. It seems like a great price but....why? Color?

I like it!!! But the first one I saw in that color was Jerry Seinfeld's Turbo S. ...kind of left a lasting impression. my $.02 , max

Maybe we should figure out how to add this question to the FAQ.

Official reply: Get a color you like and get a PPI done.

Seriously, if color matters to you, make sure you get a color you like. Whether us Rennlisters love or hate Riviera Blue shouldn't matter to you in the least. Don't ignore interior color, that's what you see if you are driving it, like you should, instead of staring at it. (which is OK too.)
Expensive, inexpensive, friend, dealer, doesn't matter. Get a PPI from a reputable shop.
The price seems great. I paid very slightly more for mine recently with similar mileage, a year older, but very desirable (to me) options. 100% clean PPI or repairs to achieve 100% was a condition of purchase.
Good luck,

My favorite color is Blue . I've got a Turquoise Blue C4S which is close, but not as bright, as Riviera Blue. I think I've only seen one other Turquoise 993 in Socal. Seems to be a rare color, probably the same is true for Riviera Blue.
My C4S: <a href="http://www.ironcanyon.net/Porsche.html" target="_blank">http://www.ironcanyon.net/Porsche.html</a>
As a previous poster pointed out. The real question is whether you like the color. If you do, and the PPI checks out, I wouldn't hesitate to proceed with the purchase. You will not run across many Riviera Blue cars.

I recall there being a Riviera Blue TT (not Seinfeld's TTS) for sale on eBay a little while ago...not sure if it met reserve but bidding was pretty low - around what would be paid for a non-turbo. It also had a pretty bright interior color which probably did not help the resale price.
Just something for you to think about if you are thinking about selling it in a few years, vs. driving it into the sunset....

here is the car that was up for auction. It seems a little lighter than I remember, possibly the lighting, camera, or other variables. max <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2156170524&category=4150" target="_blank"> riviera blue turbo </a>

MarkN,
Did you decide to keep your c4s? We exchanged emails a couple of weeks ago. Those mods definitely inspire my future wallet busting!
Glad to see you on the board.

Domenico - if you really like the color you should consider this turbo instead of the C4S and contact the seller. In this market and given they current rate of depreciation, he may be motivated to move this.

Nice colour and the turbo looks lovely. If the car is cheaper because less people like the colour then just bear this in mind when you come to sell. You don't get something for nothing!
Good luck!
Cheers,
David

I remember an article in either Panorama or Excellence a few years back, they actually called it "Jelly Bean Blue"
Either way, it sure is an awesome color.
