Default Canadian 993 owners: how much to insure?

Hey, fellow Canucks-

What province do you live in and how much are you paying per year to insure your 993?

Also, what are your collision and comprehensive deductibles?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Lance

Well, it's been 3 years since I had a 911 insured in Canada, but for Edmonton Alberta it was about $900 a year. Good record, no issues. But $1500 deductible.

I pay $2800 annually to insure my 993 Targa in Vancouver. I have maximum 40% discount and Road Star Plus (which meant no accident for many consecutive years). Deductible are $500 and $500 respectively.
In contrast, the Cayenne only cost $1800 annually as the rating is much lower for an SUV instead of a sport car. Hope this is helpful.

Hmmm, I opted for private insurance. Same as Targa Tim but I pay about $2000 annually ($800 to ICBC, $1200 to Canadian Direct). Pleasure only, $1000 collision, $300 comp. I looked at using ICBC for the whole thing but they are a bunch of idiots and pick the Porsche and Ferrari cars to pick on...in Vancouver they should pick up on the idiots in the souped up Honda's are pass on the curb lanes! ;:-0

Send me a private email if you want more detail.

Cheers,

Mike

OK, so the woman I spoke with wasn't crazy. With the maximum discount (Roadstar) and $500 collision / $300 comprehensive deductibles, the 6-month premium in Victoria was $1288. That's the same as my *12-month* premium on a new Audi A4. That is certainly a BIG shock.

As a Canuck residing in Europe, I pay Euros 1260/per year.

Car is classed as a collectible/hobby car and max kms per year is set at 7500. Zero deductible, 75% discount (no accident for 8+ years).

Replacement value is set at Euro 64000.

No track day clause

Yes, Canadian Direct Insurance as a private company offered a more attractive premium over ICBC, but I heard that their authorized body shops are not first class. A friend of mine had a bumper accident to his MB E class lately, the body shop that CBI will pay for repaired his car, but he found that the workmenship is not up to par with his previous experiences with body shops that specialized in European cars.

Holy smokes you guys get robbed out there in BC. That's an insane amount of money to pay for insurance in one year. My rates here in Seattle now are only $1090/year with a $500 deduct and mileage restrictions.

I pay about C$2000 a year here in Hong Kong, which includes a substantial no-claim discount and a high deductable.
