Post What are the benefits of a strut brace?

I'm thinking of fitting one. Do you notice the difference with it fitted?

Check the archives, there has been some discussion on this topic already as well as where to purchase them.

I had one in my previuous 911, and the only time I really noticed it was on the track. As the car becomes stressed on the track, particularily during hard cornering and braking, you could feel the front end hold together a little more. If you are going to the track, they are a good upgrade and fairly easy to install. Check out:

for more info.

Hope this helps.

Especially with M030, Ajit, you should notice it - I certainly noticed it with 18s and standard S suspension. Gert can get it to you in a few days - but watch the tension on the nuts!

I put one on recently and found turn-in to be crisper, and it helped with the creaking windshield.

You can put it in yourself in 20 minutes.

Frankly, I could not tell the difference after installing the Porsche OEM strut brace. I drive my M030 993 hard on the street & track but it feels the same to me. (I am not an expert, just my impression!)

Thumbs up

Fitted mine just yesterday and yes, I'm sure there is a difference. For an overall picture, I installed H&R springs, RSR sway bars but have kept the original shocks (23K miles on them) for the moment. This combination can be a little bouncy on the California freeways. But, after installing the strut bar yesterday, the front end hangs together a little better. You get that feeling the both front wheels are going/holding in the same direction (if you know what I mean?).

Good Luck.

Dylan.

Another data point: I put one on my old '84 Turbo-look Carrera. This had Alan Johnson adjustable sway bars and Bilstein Sport shocks. I noticed no change in the handling.

The 993 body seems even stiffer; I hardly notice any body flex when I jack up one corner. This is on a car with M030 suspension. Therefore, I feel I will not notice any perceptible improvement.

What are you using the car for? Are you pushing the handling limits? Do you have top-grade "R" compound (or pure race) tires on the car? If you're not in pure competition where they're giving you money as a prize or you're not in Club Racing or are a peak autocrosser I see no reason to install one - unless you want to make the retailer a little richer!

95% street driving? Track events are untimed, right? No competition? No trophies? Then save your money.
