Default FPB (Front Protection Bar)

I finally took the car for a full test drive after putting on my new H&R and Bilstien HD suspension. It is exactly what everyone on this board, who has this setup, says it is - pure heaven!! The car now handles great on bumpy wide sweeper and even if they are off camber... I guess my old shocks were way gone. My ride height is very close to RoW height but I still seemed to be rubbing my front end on a lot of driveways.. thank god for the new FPB from Gert! I must have used it about a dozen times this weekend. It saved my front end!! I am still getting used to it and taking my time going in and out of driveways but it's difficult for me to imagine those of you that don't have the FPB with the lowered suspension.

Jonathan, I agree on the FPB. In fact, during our Rumble, Seege and I noticed there were only a couple of cars with the FPB.

It should be a standard option on ALL Lowered 993s! Saved my front many times!

Still, you need to figure a way to do those driveways without scraping! Entering/exiting at a 45 degree angle does the trick for me.

I must admit I do have a few scrapes on my FPB... but not as bad as I thought it would get after I lowered the car!

Sadly, the FPB doesn't help with a lowered car with the Aerokit II front splitter extension. I even put in spacers to lower the bar.

I have to respray the bottom of the splitter regularly - I use flat black, and it helps make it visually disappear.

My FPB has done its job so many times it is beginning to look like a crumple zone.

Is the Gert's bar truly a bolt-on to three existing holes ?
I see a different brand in one of the catalogs, but looks like drilling required.

Does everyone replying have Gert's ?

Is it available anywhere in the U.S. ?
I see most people pointing to Carnewal in Belgium.

Instead of spending $100 to replace that silly plastic stock piece, I may as well put it toward the protection bar.

Bro,

The FPB to get is Gert's. Yes, bolts on in 10 minutes and mounts and looks like it was OEM engineered for the car.

My car is lowered 1" from SUV height. After 500 miles on the new suspension, the FPB has saved me twice.

Yes, I resell Gert's original FPB here in the states. I offer it to Rennlisters for $175 with free shipping if you are interested.

Just out of Curiousity.....How much does the FPB hang down below the point of where the car would scrape anyways? I don't have one (yet); learned to live without it so far. I am going to lower my car in a few months and the FPB is on my list to do's.

Thanks in advance,

Dale

In Maine, were our two seasons are winter and road repair, I wouldn't have a lowered car without one.

I have Gert's bar on one car, and the other bar which requires drilling on another 993. Both have similar dimensions and finish, but I would recommend going with Gert's bar even though it costs a little more....no holes to drill, no rust to worry about.
