Another Suspension Build Thread
Hi All,
I picked up my 95 C2 in November 2019. The car was already modified with the following suspension components:
During my ownership, I have made the following suspension-related changes:
The car is very low, 15-20mm below RS (103mm f, 92mm r). Picture below:
Given I am so low, I have been experiencing a lot of bumpsteer in the front and recently came across a great deal on a set of used RS uprights with bearings/hubs already installed. I am planning on the following suspension changes and would love your feedback:
I'd love some feedback on my plan, especially around the choice of tie rods and anti-roll bars.

- Monoball toe arms
- Monoball strut tops
- Monoball droplinks
During my ownership, I have made the following suspension-related changes:
- Walrod front control arm bushings
- RS engine mounts
- Strut brace
- Steering rack brace
- Corner balance/alignment

Given I am so low, I have been experiencing a lot of bumpsteer in the front and recently came across a great deal on a set of used RS uprights with bearings/hubs already installed. I am planning on the following suspension changes and would love your feedback:
- RS uprights
- Tarett-style monoball outer tie rods with RSR inner tie rods - I believe this is the only way to get the RSR inners (or pin them, which I would rather not do)
- Elephant racing rear solid subframe bushings (bring up the rear subframe to allow more rear suspension travel)
- RoW Turbo 993 anti-roll bars (22m f/21mm r) and new bushings (PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE A SET FOR SALE)
- Check all rear arms
- Adjust height, re-align/corner balance
I'd love some feedback on my plan, especially around the choice of tie rods and anti-roll bars.

More of a question really but why are you going with turbo swaybars instead of RS specific at your ride height?

Any thoughts of raising it to RS or slightly higher? I'm slightly higher than RS on 17" cup wheels and it looks great and you eliminate all these issues.

Not my table, agreed that its old. I just purchased a rear RS sway from Sonnen for less than $400. Just need to know where to look.

@Bill Verburg, what do you think about the choice of tie rod? The Tarett monoball outer tie rod with RSR inner tie rod? Is there a reason why I should go with the traditional ball joint?

The stock ones are only used w/ stock wheel carriers
RS only used w/ RS wheel carriers
additionally, each is mounted on a different side of its wheel carrier
There are 3 different inners, any of which can be used w/ either of the above outers
stock w/ a rubber connection to the outer
RS w/ a stiffer rubber connection to the outer
RSR(Tarret) w/ a mono-ball connection to the outer
The Porsche motorsports RSR is NLA, so Tarrett is the way to go
best i've used is RS wheel carriers, RS outer RSR inner

stock, bent
RS, straight
The stock ones are only used w/ stock wheel carriers
RS only used w/ RS wheel carriers
additionally, each is mounted on a different side of its wheel carrier
There are 3 different inners, any of which can be used w/ either of the above outers

the o/s outers basically do what the RS wheel carriers alone do, ie compensate steering geometry for lowered vehicles
In general if you have the RS wheel carriers and correct RS outers then you don't need the Tarett o/s outers
my car runs at RSR height , 94/98 w/ RS RS and RSR for the wheel carrier to inner tie rod and never felt the need for the o/s outers
but a friend running the same height swears that they are needed, he was willing to spend way more time on it than I was as you need to do a bump sweep w/ dummy shocks to zero it all in, otherwise you run the risk of making things worse
The issue that all these parts are trying to cure is the geometry that leads to bump aka roll steer, This can never be eliminated just mitigated to the point that it isn't an issue for you
similarly in back a very low car will want geometry correction by using solid side mounts, there is no hard # that I can use to say when this is necessary, just go by your seat of the pants there
When I had a full RS stiff rubber suspension at the low end of RS for height I didn't feel the need for the solid sides or rear toe mono *****, when the car was spec'd w/ all mono-ball and dropped to RSR height I did

Very helpful as always. Do you know of a place to buy just the RS outer tie rod to then be paired with the RSR inner from Tarett?

the upper here is stock outer and inner, RS inner will look the same as the stock inner, the rubber in the connector is just stiffer
lower is RS outer and RSR inner

Ok. After more thought, this is my final list:
Will I need any new hardware for the above changes? Rear subframe mount bolts? Anything else?
- BBi uprights (Nothing wrong with my RS uprights, but got enamored by the better suspension travel and bumpsteer - will be selling my RS uprights)
- New upright bearings
- RSR inner tie rods with RS outer tie rods
- New front ball joints
- Elephant Racing rear solid subframe mounts
- New rear RS A arms
- New rear RS KT arms
- RoW 993 Turbo anti-roll bars (22mm/21mm)
- New front/rear anti-roll bar bushings
- Adjust height and alignment
Will I need any new hardware for the above changes? Rear subframe mount bolts? Anything else?
