Wow Kim. That's a scary break!

I take it the other end with the nut is long gone...yes?

Can you take a close up of the break? I would love to see what the fracture looks like. Assuming it has not pounded on something after it broke, we might be able to tell a lot about the break.

Staying tuned.

Kim,

Sorry to hear about that. I have broken a front drop link and a rear. As you tell me, you need to slow down and then you will not have those issues ;-)

Hey, was it broken at Buttonwillow when we were there?

Wow, Kim. Were you violating more HWFM speed laws again

I know these pieces undergo a good amount of stress, but they "seem" pretty sturdy. How common is this, anyway?

Kim,

You can not run those Motons without the nylon spacers that go at the bottom of the struts on the toe arm bolt. The Moton sperical bushing there allows too much travel (and not loading the sway bar until the last moment in any turn). With our sway bars, there is a heck of a strain and it wasted your aluminum (you may want to get a real mount also) mount.

I am glad nothing happen. BTW, I have your rear rotors...

Yes Kim, you need the spacer on both sides... I will drop off the rotors at Tony's....

Well Bob,....

If the spacers are made correctly, you only need them on one side to prevent the spherical joint from excessive rotation.

As you know, Moton does not provide these spacers and they must be fabricated by the installer.

LOL,....Indeed, they were in place when the car left here and your last statement was truly unecessary,...

Kim's car is all ready to hit the track once again!

A couple of comments: It looks as though the rear swaybar bracket is the culprit. Where it is cracked, it is distinctly cracked in two different area's. It looks like it has been cracked for sometime and then broke off recently. By being allowed to "bend" the mount then damaged the endlink. My WAG is that in one of the off's that Kim has had caused the first crack. It was only a matter of time until the rest of the piece fractured off.

As Steve stated there were delrin/nylon limiting bushings. You only need these on one side to limit movement. Physics is physics

Steve,

I am sorry for my comments. I did write without thinking. If I would have thought for a second I would have realized that it was you that put together Kim's car, and as such I would have known that it was done properly. Please accept my apology.

Bob or Steve:

Where are you guys getting these spacers? I have been bothered by the fact that the rear shocks rotate a tremendous amount and I actually feel that happen as weight transfers. Sometimes it feels like something just popped loose in the rear. Anyway, where do you get em?

Thanks in advance,

Hank

Hank, Bob and Steve,

Okay, are you guys talking about where the bottom of the rear Moton attaches onto the rear suspension? I finally got a chance to crawl under the car tonight and saw what looked to be the spherical joint on the lower part of the shock and a good amount of space left and right of that joint. It looked markedly different from my PSS-9's.

Thanks,

Mark:

That's what I'm talking about and I'm sure it's what the others are talking about too!

Hank and Kim,

Okay, got it.

Now, what the heck is the solution?

Thanks!
