Default Looks like it’s time for a new suspension…

Put my new RUF wheels on last week and decided to wash up my twists before storing them. The right front had some sticky stains. So I went under the car to see what might have caused them. Looks like my right front shock is leaking 😢

It looks like the original shocks?

If you need replacement, do some research based on what you desire - performance, comfort, cost etc.

Also, consider availability.

Probably is….36,000 mile tippy. I’d like a soft ride, but lowered a little. She’s just a weekend cruiser…

Let us know what you decide. I like a soft ride too. On the 88 I had for 12 years, I went with bilsteins, lowered, polyurethane bushings, bigger radius and sway bars. It was fun when I was in my late 40’s but as I got older it was fatiguing to drive. Because of availability my plan is to order Classic Greens now and put them on over the winter on my, new to me, 993. Do your research and share your thoughts. While there are some threads about greens vs others I’m still not satisfied I know they will replicate the original ride. Will be good to get more feedback from people who actually have them on their car.

Oh yeah, time for new suspension. Looks like those were dunfer long ago with the amount of oil on the strut body.

If you desire lowered right height, comfort, and aren't looking to break the bank - consider Koni FSD with MO33 springs (european height).

I believe they now make an active suspension which has some benefits (smoother ride, newer technology) vs. some cons (increased cost, more things to break/wear out).

Great options include KWs, PSS10s, and Ohlins - more "performance" based, more cost and some availability issues.

There are lots of threads to search regarding this - after you read them, think about what you really need based on the type of driving you do - it's easy to get caught up in what others recommend. Different people want different things out of their suspension.

Hi Onami,
If your suspension is not original and it is from one of the major suppliers the struts and dampers can in many cases be rebuilt at a fraction of the cost of new.

Thanks Guys. I read through some of the threads and it is a little overwhelming for someone like me that doesn't really care about stuff like this on a weekend ice cream car. So, if someone can save me some time...what is the best alternative to the factory shocks outside of the new Porsche Classics? TIA!

I have Koni Sport Actives (Yellow body) with Eibach Sport springs on my C2 cab. Lowered stance, and dialed very soft. Ride is very compliant.

The set up was recommended by my Indy given I don't drive that aggressively. Very happy with it

Your Konis have adjustable dampening on top of each shock/strut? Can you post side profile pic?

Yes. Here's the link to the exact set up. They come with a little white **** to adjust them in seconds.

Alsamrod- thank you for the link. I have the same Koni Sport set up. I just wanted to confirm since you stated “Koni Sport Active”, I thought Koni just came out with something new
