Pic attached, help to identify when buying a car
Hi,
i'm considering buying this 993 GT2 replica. It's based on a 964 Carrera, so not sure which forum is correct. Anyway, can someone tell me i the cables in the picture(the black thin one, the blue and the brown) is original, or if the wiring harness have been changed in anyway?
And also, looks like there been done some work(see red arrow) at the body, can anyone explain why that might? Cause that isnt because of adding gt2 fender flairs, right?

Ask the seller WHY he did the conversion. The orange peeling in the doorjams tells a story- as does the poor putty job and paint in the frunk. The car was probably hit and they decided to modify it. - just a guess.

Yeah I know, but that's what's said, even though the registration says Turbo. How can i find out for shore, through VIN number?
It's been like this for many years, I saw quick in some documents with the car pictures from germany when it hadde 993 turbo look i believe. Many different owners and the current owner maybe not dived too deep into this car so he might not know why and when. I will try check with previous owners.
Other than it not looking nice, what is the concern regarding the bidy damage, suppose thats what you referring to? The car is relatively cheap probably based on the fact it's not perfect obviously.
the car is being used as a weekend cruiser as well as trackday tool and that's how it's been used. So i'm not after a pristine example, but of course get a little worried reading these comments. Will post some more pics

I think the concern most of us have is the quality of the work, even if its a 993 conversion being used as a track tool. Perfection, sloppiness, usually its consistent. So what you see on the surface is going to be an indication of what you find underneath.
My biggest concern would be safety. You might find yourself buying a money pit for cheap. Would not touch this if you don't know what you are getting into.

Hi SAGA,
My concern is even if you purchase it at a very low price due to the condition it may not be very satisfying to own or drive. This can make it a disappointment every time you get in the driver's seat.
I would look for a good user example that has been maintained. It will likely be a much more satisfying car to own in the long run.

Wow. Big difference. Is it a factory GT2?
