Yes especially because the 993 Targa doesn't have the same leak issues as the G50 and 964 classic targas (as far as I know).

Most of the Targas in Europe seem to be tiptronics though (for whatever reason). Same for cabrios.

Do not forget that any sale on BAT is actually $4 to 5k more than final price since the buyer has to pay the fee to BAT.. and this does not include shipping which is another $1k on average.

I just bought a 993 C2 Coupe, manual, a month ago.. found the car in Canada.. originally a US car. Went to there to pick it up which I do not recommend in the winter time and I am in the DC area so I drove 22 hours one way to get it. Got the car for $67k equivalent in US dollars. OTD I was $72k. That included the PPI, US DMV tax and $1800 of import fee. 3 owner car has 96k miles on the ODO. Clean car fax. Only issue with car are the timing chain covers which are leaking but I am getting fixed this next month. Car had been owned by the last owner for 12 years.. service history dating back to the first owner. Bilstein HDs, Turbo twist wheels, guards red, very few dings on the body. I have been researching prices on 993s and extensively searching for 18 months. I knew this was one of the worst times to buy a 993, but no way I was going to pay 85k for one.
I owned a 997.2 C4S with for 1 year... which I regret selling mainly due to the condition of the car and potential rarity down the road. Unfortunately I had a new 4runner on order so having 2 911s just wasn't feasible financially. In hindsight, I should of passed on the truck and kept the C4S.
My POINT to this story, for those of you that are thinkin of selling your 993s. I say make sure you rethink it well, especially those that bought their cars when they were cheap (under 60K). I doubt you will get the same pleasure out of owning any other 911.. especially the folks talking bout hating new tech. I have driven a 991s, 991 c4, 992 C2S, 997.1 Turbo, 996Turbo, 991 GT3.. a newer 911 cannot be compared to any air coooled 911 (most of you know that and I found this to be true after driving all the different gen variants PRIOR to driving a 993.) There are simply way too many factors to consider and are completely different breed of cars. I respect the tech in newer 911s and how much more power you get out of the box, but unless I can keep my 993, I will NEVER sell it for a newer 911. I rather wait and buy a newer one later. I realize this is not realistic for some of us, but if I have a small amount of regret for selling a 997.2 which is not near as rare as a 993, I think the regret will be much higher for some of you.

and the people with low mileage cars?? I will never understand that.. its like saving a hot chick for the next dude to abuse.

Yes I agree. A 30-year old car with 30K miles is super weird. When the miles are that low, is it even a benefit at all?

When the car is sitting a lot in the warm garage it dries the electric wires. I have first hand experience of that. When my grandfather died in 1997 his very low mileage Audi 90 sat for 5 years because it was owned by the estate. Nobody drove it (for whatever reason). Well I eventually bought the car from the estate and ALL electricity gave me problems very soon. It was an old car and some of the stuff was possible to bypass with stuff (like separate start button, etc.) but that car had a lot of wiring issues that aren't typical for German cars. Of course I live in Finland and we use road salt during the winter which probably kills the cars even faster when they're left sitting.

But cars have to be driven, I've owned a few very high mileage Volvos and Mercedes-Benzes. I was probably lucky but they gave me very few problems. W212 Merc 2014 facelift (and old taxi) and it was flawless for me and I drove 70K miles. When I sold it, it had 300K miles. The interior was as good as new. That car had good service history though.

In 1996 with my first born on her way my wife's 1984 Fiero was traded up for a safe family hauler, a 1997 Audi A6 pearlescent white exterior and beige interior, a fantastic ride with classy looks. After the first year the electrical gremlins reared their ugly heads. The windows would open by themselves while we were driving, dashboard would light up randomly, and the sun roof would be open in the morning. Imagine finding the sunroof open, several times, when it rained over night. After several trips to the dealer, and several harnesses being replaced, the issue was resolved. Audi's did have electrical issues in '97 and I'm skeptical that 5 years of storage, especially in a warm garage, would be detrimental to a wiring system unless Mickey was up to no good.

I agree it had some really nice mods but most people prefer cars without accidents.

Plenty of BAT sales with cars with an accident history worse than that one, sold for a lot more $

In think in general when buying a 993 NB or WB, you have to ask yourself what you want out of it:

- collector garage queen investment, then stick to low mileage, non-accident, stock car
- OCD driver, buy the best car you can get, make it what you want and drive it
- track car, get in as cheap as possible, make it what you want, and drive the it as hard as you want
