Stated value is useful when a driver wants to take on some of the risk to avoid a higher premium. Typically stated value is *lower* than actual cash value, and the insurance policy pays either stated value or actual cash value, whichever is less.
I disagree!! I tried to stay away from this subject. Agreed value insurance provides the insurer and insured stipulate the value of the vehicle in advance of the policy being written. Underwriting may require photographs of the car(s) condition, mileage, garaging, etc, prior to entertaining an agreed value policy.
In the event of a total loss, the insurer compensates the insured for the agreed or stipulated value, less the insureds deductible. Depreciation, is also irrelevant.

I think you misunderstand and that we are saying the same thing: agreed value is agreed upon by insured and insurer. It can be set above or below ACV.
I agree with everything you wrote above and do not find it counter to my comments.

Wouldn't you wish that were true. How's your 993 hunt been going, buy one yet?

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...rrera-coupe-5/

This went for much more than I would have thought. Seller has excellent reputation in the P-Car market which definitely adds value.

he certainly brings a level of trust to the car like no other. All the commentary was civil, nobody was asking to pull the speedo and $hit like that… what an auction should be.

I think the buyer got a very reliable car.

Run of the mill . I wouldn't call any 993 run of the mill anymore.
I'd like to remind people that good condition manual C2 NB numbers are most likely less than everyone thinks.
How many are automatics? How many have been crashed? How many aren't well maintained?
I think those factors take at least 30% of the North American car numbers off the table for people who are looking for a good car.

i would add: how many are in the hands of people who have no intention of ever selling?

39,000 993 C2 NB produced is run of the mill compared to a 993 S (3,714) and 993 4S (6,948) WB cars.

^^^ Give it a rest. You’re the first to sh*t on NB cars all the time. Let me guess, you own a WB. Why are you even on this thread?

Agreed! 993 were special cars when they were first made, and now there are many fewer of them. Besides, Gbos1, every time the NB cars go up, it makes your even more limited (by that I mean less nimble) WB go up in value.
