How'd the PPI go? Normally I'd say always get a PPI but some unique circumstances you can take a calculated risk and not get one done. For example about a year ago I bought a 1995 993 Cab white/ over cashmere with a black top without a PPI because the guy I bought it from had an indy Porsche shop go through it after he bought it a year prior and had them fix everything that they listed that needed fixing and I he gave me all the detailed receipts and I saw the car in person and test drove it. The 993 had 60K miles and look like it was in condition 1 and had $10K or work done and new tires so I felt good about the purchase. As far as owning a 993 I really love my 993. I think it's the smoothest and most capable of the air cooled 911. For 7 years I owned a 1985 cab white over black with a block top and loved that car as well but it wasn't as refined of a drive as my 993. It really depends on how you like the feel of the drive. If I had more money and garage space I would have kept both cabs! Here's a pic of my 993.

It went well and we cabled payment today.

Graham Everette did the PPI and said leak down was 1 - 3% on all cylinders. No oil leaks, no sign of rust or accident damage.

Fingers crossed!

Congratulations! I am glad you went with a PPI. I bought a new '97 993 coupe in '97. We loved it. If I buy another 911, it would be either a '89 G-50 coupe or a '98 993S coupe with a 6 speed. Both cars are in my mind are pinnacles of the mark.

Bought my 993 from Dick Barbour last year. Graham did the PPO, leakdown, and the top end rebuild. The car’s been terrific. You’re in great hands.

I bought my '95 993 from a exclusive car dealership in San Francisco. I drove up, with absolutely no intention of buying it, simply knowing I wanted a 911 since I was a kid. Saw an ad in the paper. This was 1999 and I just hit 30yrs old. Polar Silver. Black interior. Manual. 60k miles. $42k asking. Salesman asked "have you ever driven a 911 - they are different". I've driven stick, but honestly, not much experience with 911's. Drove it. Parked it. Went to a Burger King on Van Ness (SF), contemplated, then came back and shook hands. Done. Took my soon-to-be-wife to pick it up (sales guy was hitting on her), and drove her home (the car and soon-to-be-wife, haha!!) Best car ever! Approaching 150k miles, tracked many times, and solid as a rock. This one stays in the family. No PPI, so I was lucky. Dodged a bullet I guess. The front was resprayed, which I found out later, but it was done for cosmetic reasons, not an accident. Whew. It was a karma thing, even though the sales guy was sleasy. I guess morale of the story, you can get a great car with no PPI, but it's risky. I was lucky I guess!

Congratulations! That is exciting! What year and color combo is it? Is it base, S or Turbo? RWD or AWD? Manual or Auto? Coupe, Targa or Cab? Post a pic once you get it

See my post on the unfortunate result. I have now owned a 911, even if it was for just one week.
