I need advice on speaker replacement on my 95 cab. CR1 radio and I want to keep it original looking.

Fromt? Rear? Standard or Hi Fi option? Crutchfield has a selection guide and good quality speakers if you’re just looking to bolt in and refresh the 25 year old speakers you have.

Also the OE speakers are fairly easy to find and cheap. I replaced the fronts in my car a couple of years ago.

If you’re looking for drop in replacements there isn’t a lot of choice. I went with OEM parts which were quite reasonable. ( made by Nokia of all companies)
mine were unique with the crossover coil part of the speaker assy and pre wired to connector.
if you’re building your own baffles and enclosures the the sky is the limit
it gonna be hard to drown out the symphony behind you either way.
😀

Are the front speakers hard to replace? I've heard the grills may be challenging to remove?

Not hard. But difficulty varies by hifi vs. normal. With hifi you need to remove the interior door panel (grille is integrated). Still not too hard.

Love to see which direction you go as I am also in need. Rear speakers look simple to replace with OEM...

Well, not exactly, with the Hi-Fi (Premium Speaker Option) the door card stays in place, no need to remove it or the pull handle /armrest/door pocket. But one does need to remove the Philips head screws around the periphery of the carpet covered speaker cover box to release it and remove the speaker reflex housing under it to remove the entire speaker system. If just replacing the existing drivers with exact replacement speakers there is no need to remove the speaker reflex housing under the carpeted speaker cover.

Huh. I remember removing the whole door pocket panel. I guess I created work for myself!

If standard radio I replaced mine a few months ago. For the fronts I went with PolkAudio DXI 525 I sourced from eBay for $39 for the pair. For the rears I went with PolkAudio DB461 from Amazon for $59 for the pair. Fairly easy replacements. Since the new fronts have tweeters built-in I just left the org small tweeter cable unplugged.

You have a coupe, right? The rear speakers on Amazon with that item # are elongated for rear deck on coupe, correct? I'll have to see if Polk has a guide for rear cab speakers.....

Correct, I have a coupe.

Separate question: is it possible to add a signature to posts? I've seen other members that have a listing/pic of their car on their posts. Looking to do the same like I've typed below.
