I've been saying that Sport Seats are the most underrated differentiator of Pcars...doesn't matter which iteration, and this auction seems to prove that out.
i was blown away by that result yesterday. partially because they were in gray, but if you have a gray interior, that's what you need. just thought it would bring less buyers to the table than, say, black ones.
with fees, we're talking $16,275 for TWO SEATS!!! i thought $10k was pretty nuts. sport seats in a 993 are a huge factor now in value. i have sports in my 964 and they are not in this range, but they [sport seats] are definitely an important option for a 911.
While I'm at it, this was the "best" deal on the market...already under agreement...
i would agree that with 22k miles and the aero kit, that's a probably a $200K car when the market rebounds a bit. the only thing i see missing are the sport seats. with sports, it would have to be a $200k as it sits.
i'm not a fan of the aero wing myself, but you can see BaT bidders willing to pay a premium for the aero kit. nice car!

still trying to wrap my head around $16,725!
And to think I was complaining when I spent $800 for sport seats back in 2005. Not hard back, but still.
I tapped out at $14K and change on those gray 993 sport seats. Canepa was the winning bidder that is one of his accounts. I wanted them for me and my experience of the car in question (would've had to restore them, add the belt slots, and paint the backs too) so let's say $20K all in. I personally don't think they add another $20K of value to a wide body car all things being equal. Wondering what the collective thinks and if someone has sport seats in any color that you would like to sell me at a more realistic price, please PM me. Thank you.

As a sport seat snob (have them in my 997TT cab, black with natural brown) - I agree that it's not $20k, but we are splitting hairs of like $3k, today. Tomorrow, who knows? I will say that every single auction and listing of a 997TT, 993, or especially a 996TT, I go immediately to the interior pics to see what seats the car has...and with the TTs, I typically say "who specs a cool car with boring seats?!"
There's 3 ways you are connected to the car, feet, hands and ***.
I paid $15k for a black set a couple years ago, but they were heated with crests and in absolutely PERFECT condition, like new. $15k+ for a set that needs work? No thanks..
If 993 S USA numbers are accurate, around 1500 in 1997 and 1998 how is Tarek consistently buying and selling them? It makes no sense if the numbers we hear of are accurate or even near accurate. These are all USA cars he’s selling, I know world wide there were many more produced. Anyone else wonder if USA total cars are much more than we actually think?

@997Pilot numbers are accurate. You take all the wide body Ss he’s ever sold and you can make a little dent on total US production, maybe single digit %. Some cars he has bought and sold 2-3 times. Same car. Also a lot of folks offer him their cars for a quick and anonymous sale. He gets them no question. It’s fun to watch, (and buy).
I used to be crazy about low mileage for air cooled cars but at this point ( for 993s) I would pay a premium for any car even with 100K mileage that had amazing records and previous caretaker owners/enthusiasts. Especially colors and spicy mods.
