i'm surprised a car with that type of history is being sold 911r. they seem to normally sell extremely nice examples. a buyer should not have to buy a car that has a known history on a public auction site. if the dealer is aware, this is shady.

likely only if he went through his insurance company. if he decided to pay out of pocket, there's probably nothing to trigger carfax.

Perhaps not if this is all true.

The gulf between the S coupes and the Cabs and Targas is remarkable. If you buy to have a great driving car, they are all basically great driving cars, so that can't be the reason for the difference in pricing. Is it rarity? Not really, Porsche made plenty of all the common versions. Can someone explain this pricing phenomenon? Five years from now will this still be going on or will the market revert to normal pricing?

As discussed, well-documented, and boomboom above reminds, Carfax reports are often arbitrary and always optional, besides often being wrong- collision repair/.body shops decide to report or not. Don't believe?, check a Tech Tactics video from a year or 2 back with Vu and a major Porsche repair shop close to PCA Headquarters. Vu was stunned to learn this!
The Carfax Myth gets perpetuated and can have major effects on sales prices.

I think some folks place too much value on the miles, and look past obvious deferred maintenance. My C2S has 9,999,999 miles on the registration, and it’s in better running condition. But with a little TLC, this car is a keeper!

we've had some low mileage 993s lately, but a 2300 mile '96 Turbo just showed up on BaT. polar over black sports.
$300k?

The coupe is closer to the iconic 911 shape and more „pure“. The WB simply looks more aggressive.
Price is supply and demand. If demand isn‘t there (e.g. tiptronic), limited supply doesn‘t matter that much.

S Coupé production numbers (limited) matters as well. NB were more mass produced.

This situation needs to be tracked closely...sport seats, in gray, going for $15k+ fees, is a wow.
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/po...sport-seats-2/
I've been saying that Sport Seats are the most underrated differentiator of Pcars...doesn't matter which iteration, and this auction seems to prove that out.
