FF,
If you're at the keyboard would you do a mock-up, as above, of the standard 993 turbo wheels on your car (Euro ride height) and then put it next to the one above with the 996 style (i.e. sharper) turbo wheels?
Would be very interested indeed. Thankee, W

Hey people,
I personally LOVE body color wheels w/ most colors.
Check this:

I know that looks good.
Years ago I helped a pal get this same look on his 951. It transformed the car. The red wheels are still on the car, & it still gets compliments.
It would take ***** to do it though. As it is controversial.

Mark Mark Mark,
"ugly" ?? Com'on man...
Ugly is the elephant man... Ugly is a burnt home with boarded up windows & un-cared for lawn... Ugly is a Ford Edsel, or maybe an early Corvair.
This Speedster is not "ugly," even with expensive factory color coded wheels.
I think I put it best w/ "controversial."
In fact, I may do it to my car just to buck the trend & warm your heart.

Color keyed wheels are pretty classy actually, that's why you pay a premium for it.....but like everything else on a car it must be tastefully done. There's a brand new 911 turbo X50 at Auto Gallery it's white on black with white wheels and it looks spectacular in my opinion. One of my neighbors however has a 993 C4S in paint-to-sample purple with speed yellow rims and it looks disgusting. In my own personal opinion, it all depends on the color of the car. Darker colors tend to look good with color-keyed wheels. Brighter colors not so much, with white being the exception. However, when in doubt always go with black or gunmetal powder-coat on the wheels (regardless of the color of the car).....it gives it the "race" look and I happen to think it makes the car looks meaner and more intimidating.
later,
amir (BTW, if you were wondering....when I have my Fuchs redone sometime this summer I'll probably have the black center piece matched to the venetian blue of the car)

LOL!! You are, of course, correct. It's just that those red color-matched wheels absolutely RUIN an otherwise gorgeous car for me, and it pisses me off!
That car screams for polished chrome. But that white 930 with color-matched rims farther up the thread doesn't look too bad, actually.

They color code wheels on rice rockets don't they?
I think color coded wheels looks awful..its the contrast of the wheels that can really highlight the body color. Sometimes black wheels on a light colored car is okay, but if they are the same color...yuk!

I was thinking of painting my spare set of genuine Cup1 wheels for to my 964 Turbo in the same color as the car = Amazongreen! I would not dare to do this if it was my only set.
I would paint the "spokes" in bodycolor and leave the rim silver.
I uploaded 3 picures of one green 993 with painted wheels, a green 964 with painted wheels and my 964T with orginal wheels.

Thread bump, but looks like previous photo-links have died.
I have photos of a white 993 Turbo w/ white wheels from last weekend's Dana Point "White Glove" Concours d'Elegance ...upload & post 'em later.
