Default Targa top guru's

Considering the size and weight, this has to be the most expensive top component, I hope. Does anyone have the procedure to share that details the steps to replace the rear glass pivot bracket correctly? I'm thinking I should loosen the passenger side, raise glass evenly, then tighten both sides to what I recall is 7 in-lbs of torque. At a price of $235, I don't need an install mistake on this one, TIA.

If the picture is the broken part, I would be tempted to JB Weld it back together, unless it is a lot of work to R&R...

I considered the JB route but given the pressure on the part, which holds the rear of the glass roof up into the closed position, epoxy would not last. R&R is not difficult but do want to get the torque value correct the first time.
thanks

If you don't have a suitable torque wrench, you can buy an inexpensive 1/4" drive inch-pounds one from Harbor Freight, along with an electronic device to calibrate it (also inexpensive), and have an accurate little torque wrench for occasional applications for not much money. Useful for torquing the fan pulley and valve cover bolts.

I have the tools, just looking for the knowledge to align roof panel correctly I've used Pcarworshop links for previous roof repairs but the site is no longer available.

Let me tag @Todd B since he had a targa and was very technically proficient with the top.

Grapeape I had the same part break on my 96 Targa when I had it. It's made from some type of pot metal. I tried JB weld and it was a no go, like you said too much force and not enough surface area. You're close on the torque, the shop manual says 6ftlb.
Shoot me an email address and I can email you the targa top shop manual pages. At least Porsche hasn't raised the price in 15 years.
