Default CART meltdown... CWalrod?

Are you still working for a team or supplier? How does this affect your biz? Not looking good for OWRS or Atlantic this year

Fernandez gone to the Twirl and looks like Rahal, too. Haas next?

As sad as I think it is, I am afraid CART/OWRS is in a world of hurt. I am far from a big Tony George/IRL fan but if you own a open wheel team you got to go where the sponsors and money want you to be.

I really hate that Tony George ruined one of the most exciting (to me) racing series on the planet.

I think that years from now we'll look back on CART like we do on CAN/AM. A series with great racing, exciting cars and top class drivers that was killed off by business decisions.

Oh well, at least Speed GT is still running.

Yes, still here for the moment at least..

Scary, very scary to what will happen next. Things were looking up until this morning's news...

I just got back from a CART (Atlantic side) test in Phoenix yesterday. I had a good conversation with the Series president. Things sounded pretty good actually. (would anyone care if I posted a few pics?)

Trouble is, this typically starts a trend with others following unfortunately.

Rahal already has one foot in the IRL door with one entry last season and so far one this season with Buddy Rice (former Atlantic driver) subbing for Kenny Brack. Rahal may go to the dark side, Carl Haas will NOT go from what I know of him. Paul Newman wont let him so the story goes...

lets all hope and pray for a REAL open wheel season this year!!

George's Indy Racing League (GIRL) has only ONE race that anyone cares about. Its amazing the lure of the 500, even though its the third most popular race at the speedway these days...go figure

Funny that all TG's original premises have gone by the wayside. American drivers, affordable costs. Ha. On top of it his plans for the future include every fan in a seat (no more infield), and the death of open wheel American road racing. You can now get a hotel room at any time. A real sign of the decline. The 500 is just not the same. I've boycotted it since the IRL took over. Letting stock cars on Holy Ground. (what crap!). I'm sure I've forgotten many of my gripes because my blood pressure goes up when I think about it. My family has had tickets since the '50's and it's all gone to hell. Tony George's gigantic ego has screwed it all. Did I say I was PISSED!

So very sad. TG destroyed the Indy 500 for me, and it really does look scary for US open-wheel drivers who can turn in more than one direction.

hmm interesting. in the paper last weekend here in columbus (rahals home town), there was a big wrote up about his toyota atlantic team, and his focus on that this season. reading that article (and seeing how it is a feeder series to cart), seems like a big slap in the face, now that i read the article you guys are talking about. this **** sucks. damn tony george

Messrs. Gentilozzi, Kalkoven, and Forsythe have enough resources to overcome this defection...they certainly didn't get into this not expecting some sort of speed bumps along the way.

I work closely with Rahals Atlantic team and Danica Patrick. Jim Prescott, their Atlantic team manager (great guy BTW) says Rahal is committed to his Atlantic team and its stepping stone qualities for driver and team development. After all, this is where Bobby came from as well.

I guess time will tell how strong the OWRS is..... More incentives may be needed for new teams to join the ONLY open wheel series in America, you know, the one that turns left also

Since those animals (punk 20 year old drivers with a team of adults race-prepping their cars) were blasting by us at the end of pit lane, a speed limit sign was posted to keep them in check

"100mph PIT speed, have a nice day"
