Talking Thanks to everyone!!!

I want to pass my gratitude and thanks to a few people here for their advise and personal time and effort to help me with my decision in getting a track dedicated car. Yesterday in the freezing Miami I had the pleasure of purchasing a 1995 midnight blue/cash 993 coupe with 80K miles which will be the base for my track adventures in the years to come. I will be keeping my cab and convert it back to beauty queen and I will be posting here all the "upgrades" and mods that will go to the track car. I'm planning to use some "untested parts" so I hope my ventures will prove to be helpfull to all of you in the future.
So I want to thank Berkley for sending me a TON of links to check out, Kim, Martin and Phil for their support and help, Craig,Robin,Hank,DJ, Robert, Dan,Pin, Mike ,Eric and all the others for their advise when I was looking into "what to get".
Also Harald from the 964 board for his help and much needed parts!!!

Finally I want to thank Dustin Phillips of Excell Auto from the "thalist" dealers network for his FREE advise and time. Amazing...I wish dealers were all like him....

So here she is ...my new DX :

Rennlist is a great place to be...
Tks to all again

I guess that's what I was getting at!! I imagine your cab would get an attitude if you didn't give him those tips...personally, I think there is no better consmetic upgrade to these cars than those tips

Congratulations Danny. Great looking car.

Love to hear what you do to it as time goes on.

Hmmmm... If we get many more dedicated track cars here, we can have our own Rennlist Cup.

Great looking car! Updates on turning it into a track car would be brilliant. Best of luck with the project.

Nice!

And it will be even better to see what you do to her!

May I ask how much you paid for it (just curious)?

And where that DX comes from? I know Robin calls his 993 DX but have been left out what does that mean?

Thanks Tim and Finn.
I paid $28500 for her, private sale which was pointed to me by Dustin Phillips. Seller wanted 31 we negotiated down... A south florida car all its life with 3 owners, FS History and a lot of maintenance done to the car. The interior is no creampuff but it did not matter to me...The exterior is beautifull and the car is very solid on the road.

The DX yes it's Robin's idea, Toyota or Honda (?) in the past used to call their base models "DX" to signify the level of equipment.Same model car with lets say "LS" would have more accessories. I remember that in the 80's. My car besides the motorsound, oval tips and 17" wheels is pretty much basic. Cant wait till she gets here!!!

Yikes!! $28.5k? I can feel my baby out in the garage, depreciating as we speak...

I guess I'll have to start going out in, what - yellow? - to chase your tail a little

Nice work Danny. Any cab-specific track parts you want to part ways with?

LOL Robert! Yellow was the color I was after as well but some guy by the name of Kim snatched a great yellow one..

My purchase price should not be confused with the kind of cars the majority here have or look to buy. While the exterior (bar a scratch) is flawless the interior leaves a lot to be desired... The steering wheel is very worn, the seats are very worn, shifter, em brake handle, carpets etc would need changing... Let's say it would not be my choise if it would be my only 993. What I was looking for was an accident free, mechanically sound car and this is it! The guy had all receipts, history on the car since day 1 and has changed last year AC compressor, steering rack, new seals on the engine, front rotors, slave cylinder, boots and a lot of other things that I would have to do anyway... So in that respect yes the car was a steal Many buyers have and would have rejected the car due to the interior cosmetics. It was obvious that he really loved the car but he could not afford the maintenance on it so he had to cut his losses and move on... He told me he wanted badly to do the interior but obviously he run out of $$$...Repair bills total more than 8K (Yikes) so I guess that scared him off big time!!!
All the creampuffs I found were highly priced well in the 30's even with 60,70 or 80K miles.

There is a yellow one in NC and it has been sitting on the lot for quite a while Also that 200K mile car in Kansas in Iris Blue is still waiting for a buyer..From 25K he was asking he is down to 23K. In a couple of weeks I think he will take the 20K I was offering him...

Are you coming next weekend at the TWS club DE?

Mark I will be parting with the DAS bar and BK eyebolts for the seats as soon as the coupe is sorted... Sometime in the mid Feb I pressume. Still waiting on Gert to get my track suspension. Till then I will be using the cab for the track.
Eric...sadly no... The cab is just too nice cosmetically to have it in battle at the track. She will remain a beauty queen for driving and concours... I wanted a "cheap" coupe for the track only so incase something happens I can leave it parked for a while till repairs can be done...
