Default Modding has officially started

Hey everyone,

Modding has officially started! The stance is now perfect (to me). Here’s what has been done so far:

Stance related items:

- Bilstein PSS10 coilovers
- Cup 2 wheels
- 15mm Rennline spacers on the front
- 5mm Rennline spacers on the rear plus a 2mm shim from Elephant Racing (total 7mm of course)
- Longer studs front and rear
- Black steel Rennline open lug nuts
- Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires (F: 205/50/17 R: 255/40/17)

Other stuff that was done:

- OEM black floor mats
- Oil and filter change (Penngrade 1 20w-50)
- Transmission flush (Mobil Delvac 1 75w-90)
- Fuel filter
- Cabin filters
- DME relay
- eBay exhaust tips. I don’t like them as they are not angled so they poke out too much from the side. They will be replaced.

Upcoming stuff:

- Fister stage II mufflers with black ceramic coating (they are on the way and will arrive Dec 2nd)
- Other exhaust tips - still undecided as I refuse to pay $600+ for the OEM big ovals
- When installing the exhaust, I will also do spark plugs and all the engine belts

Early next year stuff:

- FD Motorsports short shift kit and golden rod
- OEM black shift **** (already got it but will wait to install with the SSK)

Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

A few more pics that show the stance from different angles:

Consider a set of OE RS motor mounts. They fit nicely with your other mods.

Also - you will love FD stuff - muffler, SSK/GR.

Yes, I’m also considering those but are lower priority at this point. I had the Rennline mounts on my previous 997 and I loved them

I couldn’t resist anymore, so I decided to install the black shift ****. It was much easier to install than expected

Explain why your oil level gauge is to the top? Might want to check your dipstick on the level once the car is at full operating temperature (midway temp on gauge) to be sure you are not overfilled.

I don’t really pay attention to that gauge unless the car is at operating temperature (as the manual says). The car was cold when I took the picture.

I will check the dipstick later today just in case. My Porsche shop put in a bit less than 10 quarts. Does that sound about right?

Great job on some very nice mods, I like them and the 993 looks great. I agree with your position on the wide ovals. I always have my eyes open on CL and eBay for a deal on them.

I think that these are a good alternative to the wide ovals, for a fraction of the cost: https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD1119930...rrow-body.html

I'm with you on not paying attention to that gauge. But I'd definitely check the dipstick. I wouldn't want the oil any higher than 1/2 way up the twist. Less if possible. When mine is in that range the gauge is in the red at the bottom. Not bottomed out but close. I've become convinced that less is more on oil in the 993. But there are tons of threads on this. Only posting this because you're new and the picture.

So I measured the oil with the engine hot and idling, on a level surface, using the dipstick. The oil goes all the way to the top of the twisty part but not above. Is this ok?

Thanks

Nope, way too high. Keep your oil level at the one-third to halfway mark.
