Saw you mention slip in 3.8 cylinders in another thread. I'd strongly suggest you reconsider! Especially since the cases are already split. With the power you're making bore distortion is a real concern. There's very little added expense at this point. Just time.

Hey Mennrod!

Amazing build! Glad you're back... We could use your experience and expertise!

Going to the dyno next week to get all my final AFR measurements for Todd.

Could you share what your AFRs were for
1) Idle
2) Cruise
3) Light Throttle
4) Medium Throttle
5) WOT

TIA!

I've been telling people that for years. OEM's are finally doing the same. The result is a very NA like power delivery without the turbo "hit". Some may actually like that burst of power but anyone looking to drive in a road course like manner wants the former not the latter.

Again kudos for taking the SC kit to the next level. I bet your car is a hoot to drive! I'd take your setup for driving experience over a factory turbo any day.

I take this back. They are not slip in. Bad Meenrod.

As you were.

Things are progressing well mechanically too. The LSD has been installed and the gears selected for the transmission rebuild. I went with LONGER 1st and 2nd gears (against conventional wisdom here) to close the gap to 3rd gear and take advantage of the additional torque and power my engine now has. Keeping stock 3-6 gears. Feel free to comment.

It did have steel synchros installed from previous work done by RUF Dallas but I have opted to switch those for a set of OEM brass rings instead. Again, this is against conventional wisdom here, but Patrick's reasoning is that those are really only useful when it get's hot / tracked. For a street driven car shifts will be much smoother without steel.

In the engine we have enlarged to 3.8 and blueprinted the oil pump. Ended up using GT2 cams too and I am interested to find out what the final power and torque figures will be.

Love it! Very similar to what I was looking to do.

We are in a different situation than these NA guys. I feel 3 through 6 is great. Maybe a tad lower 6th but whatever.

The hot setup is using the 2010 GT2RS 1-3 gears. The width of 3rd changes to increase durability as that’s the one that takes the biggest beating. The ratios are 3.17-1.89-1.429. My local shop SCARGO says they’ll fit my 993. I’ve heard people say otherwise. It’s on the dream to do list.

BTW good choice on cams.

Thank you. That's interesting to hear on the GT2RS gears- those ratios of 3.17 - 1.89 - 1.429 are almost identical to what I ended up choosing of 3.18 - 1.89 - 1.407! I didn't know that at the time so it's nice to be confirmed by Porsche RS division.

Bump for updates, really want to hear what a 3.8 supercharged 993 with GT2 cams can do.

What I learned along my journey is you don’t need much pressure, ie boost, to get big HP numbers if you focus on the same efficiencies that a NA build does. In other words a small huff into a great NA build pays big dividends! Thermal management becomes much easier with low boost too.

Mine is a 3.8L, RS Cammed, RS heads, Tiptronic, Supercharged 993
Just need to get my tune tweek'd from Todd and I'll be good to go.
I have a lean spike WOT at 3300-3700RPM 14.4AFR before it settles at 11.8-12AFR 3800RPM all the way to redline.

Engine and transmission are nearing completion, but not back in the car yet. However it's now out of the paint shop and ready for assembly.
