Post Looking for G64/21 gearbox

Help finding a source would be much appreciated.

Am visiting Southern UK 22-27th Nov, and figured that would be another place to look , if only I knew where.

Thanks in advance

Michael, can you pick up one for me? You can stow it in the overhead storage compartment. Be careful opening it because items may have shifted during the flight

Sorry I couldn't be of any real help.

seriously, lets check into a group purchase for the needed ratios. I have been pondering the idea for some time and thinking of a way to get everyone who's interested to pull their gearbox's and send them to me and I can change out the ratio's. I realize there is shipping costs but if there is enough interest, it might save a lot of money in the long run.

Who would be interested?

i'd consider it. i could drive my car down with the old gears, and drive away with the new gears. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

I bought a brand new G64/21 box this past summer. Approx $7500.

I have a G64/20 for sale if anyone is interested. 6K miles, perfect condition.

I am certainly interested! I agree with Phil, we need someone with expertise to handle the specifics.

If Steve W(or anyone) does it for example we we would need a estimate for:

- Gear sets
- Gasket Sets
- Rebuild Labor
- Shipping

Some us of would drop our own engines, others would get it done. You figure if we do a group purchase we should be able to get the "bulk" rate and Steve can do them ala "production line".

But I am willing to bet its still lots of $$$!

As a racecar gearbox builder, this is one way I could "give back" to the Rennlist/PCA comunity by doing even the local gearbox's that people could drop off at my place. I enjoy helping people out this way. I dont have the slightest idea what a 'shop' would charge for this, but collectively, we can all help each other lower the costs. I have heard talk of these ratios being expensive ($1k each ratio?). Even as Champ car ratios are marked up so much, they dont even cost this much.

Is there many sources for ratios for the 6speed?

Again, just been thinking again. I know, I know, thats a bad habit of mine

What gearsets do most people us for the upgrade? Porsche Motorsports? Guards? Quaife?

Quaife was advertising theirs for $595 as an intro special (vs $895)...anyone have experience with the Quaife gears?
