Too good to be true?

Yes. Having read the M3 story, I'd be afraid that pieces of the car would drop off as I drove it away.
Who knows though, maybe it was the odd exterior color that pushed the price down.

This car has been around since the beginning of the year. There must be a story associated with it, even though the carfax came back clean. If not, the buyer got a good deal. I am seeing more and more low-mile TTs go for the mid-60s. I think that if you had $70k, you could get just about any TT you wanted...except an S!!!

There's a reason why it's referred to by some as "flea-Bay"...
If it looks too good to be true...it probably isn't (true)!
Buying cars sight-unseen on eBay is like jumping out of an airplane with a parachute you didn't pack yourself...you might be OK, you might not!

The negative comments on Ebay are so skewed..Thousands and thousands of people have bought and sold cars off of Ebay, you dont hear anything about the great deals people got or the great car that they finally found on Ebay after months of searching..You only hear about the bad stuff that happens to people. I think (if you are smart) you can get an amazing deal on Ebay for cars and tons of other items. I have sold several cars off on Ebay and bought my BMW off Ebay. If you educate yourself on an item you can find amazing deals and great low mileage cars...

I was over at ANDIAL in Santa Ana, CA about a year ago. They had a car in there for repair work. The back half of the car, from about the firewall back was from another car. As I recall, aligning the car was a bit of a nightmare.
As with that M3 horror story, one should not be in a hurry to by any car. Regardless of how good the deal is (Too good to be true?), another car will come along in the near future that is just as good. I am convinced of this.

Sorry, Mark. I should have said "different." i.e. not red, black, silver, etc. I actually considered a Venturine (sp?) coupe before I settled on my black. I learned the hard way that a black 911 is a nightmare to keep clean.

No problem Sam. I am just very partial to Adventurine Green. You would be suprised how many times people come up to me when I am in the green car. They always ask about the color. If it is detailed well, it looks incredible.

You never know from a few photos, but look at the temp plate and then the license plate frame. Sam & Joe's Wholesale, then the frame is Sam & Joe's Repair - not a good signal to me. My first guess would be that the car was wrecked and repaired. Anything short ofr total will likely not show up on CarFax (and I have seen a TT that was a salvage but had a clean CarFax).

I'm with 96p993, I have bought and sold a bunch of vehicles on e-bay and this was a good deal nothing more, nothing less. If everything checks out very well than it was around wholesale and the buyer and seller should both be happy.
TT's have been coming up on auction and the demand for 50-70k used cars, no matter how nice, is not strong right now. The seller might have just needed to get out of it. Remember, 7 years of fun for only 40% depreciation...not bad in my book!
As much as people on the board (me included)don't want to hear it, our precious values that we hold for our cars DOES and WILL drop. Cars listed for sale on Rennlist and other enthusiast sites are always well over wholesale and at the top of the market.
I think it is safe to say that all of us spending time on this board are emotional when it comes to our own cars. There are probably more people out there who just want to own a Porsche or other highline car for the badge and just walk away after 3 years and move onto the next car.

BTW, the Aventura Green Metallic is quite a rarity as it was only offered as a special body color on the R, S, & T series 993's (in other words up to the 1996 model year). I guess that makes it odd!
