Fabspeed Motorsport | 993 Carrera Performance Package
Hey Scott here from Fabspeed Motorsport, just wanted to share some information on our 993 Carrera Performance Packages. Take a look at the package and feel free to reach out and PM for forum pricing!!!
Complete high-performance exhaust & intake solution for the 993 Carrera; includes Maxflo Performance Exhaust System with Deluxe Oval Tips, Sport Cat X-Pipe, CUP High Performance Airbox Cover, BMC F1 air filter, and a DME/ECU Software Upgrade.
Open up the air flow in your Porsche 993 with this complete performance package system. We’ve custom tuned each exhaust component to deliver brilliant sound and performance. We also fine-tune your Carrera’s ECU to optimize performance across the rev range.
Fabspeed’s high-performance Porsche upgrades are built to be installed exactly like the factory parts they replace. That means you get tight seals and easy installation without the need for adapters, cuts, or welds.
The 993 Performance Package includes:
Important notes:
DME/ECU upgrades are available for all 993 Carrera models, but you must specify which style of DME/ECU your vehicle requires. Early model 993's (1994-1995) typically use a DME software chip, while the later cars (1996-1998) use an ECU software tune. Cars equipped with the "drive-block" feature (any model years) use an OTP-style ECU. You can verify that your car requires an OTP by inspecting the stickers on your factory ECU. If the number on the Porsche sticker is 99361866600, 99361866601, 99361866602, or 99361866603, then you will need to select the OTP ECU tuning option.
DISCLAIMER: The original factory ball-joint clamps must be re-used when installing Fabspeed exhaust products on all 993 Carrera vehicles.
You must specify what style of header flange your vehicle uses: either Gillet (1996-1998) or Bischoff (1994-1996.5). Please refer to the photo above if you are unsure!

A 1996 ECU is a bench flash or whats called an OTP Tune, depending upon your vin # and if the number on the Porsche sticker is 99361866600, 99361866601, 99361866602, or 99361866603 you would need the OTP. Either way your ECU would be sent out to our tuner, re-mapped to optimize the maximum performance for your vehicle, then sent back to you ready to be installed.
Again, the 1996 ECU's are benched flashed or OTP tuned by our tuner and returned with no issues.
Older model 993's did require the "piggyback chip" that Kika had mentioned, the ECU's out of the 1996 do not have issues with bench flashed tunes some do require the OTP which is an additional part of the tune.
My apologies for the delayed response.

Hey guys,
Phil from Fabspeed.
Scot had to run for the day. Sorry for the delay on that – there was a slight confusion with the Dyno charts. The numbers Scott provided earlier are WITHOUT an ECU Tune.
Here is a Dyno Chart showing the gains provided by just the bolt-ons in this package on a ‘95 993 Carrera Cabriolet.
We lost some of our oldest files years ago when switching computer systems and do not have as many Dyno Charts on this setup as some of our other packages. We already have a customer scheduled to come Dyno this complete package AND tune and we will provide that Dyno Chart as soon as we get that in, but it is safe to assume there will be noticeable gains on top of this provided by the ECU Tune.

What does OTP mean? I thought (or at least what I have been told, is that the memory chip in the 96 ECUs is a single burn, meaning that once it is programmed by Bosch, it cannot be re-written. conversely the 97's have an EPROM, that is re-flahable, and can be re-programmed over and over .
