I'm in the process of purchasing my First P Car

From Florida to NY I would say that the average cost for exposed is about $850 and enclosed is about $1,150. Can't help you with Chi-town but $.75/mile is a good estimate for enclosed.

If you want it NOW instead of weeks away like the big enclosed transport companies, I cannot speak highly enough of Curtis Marlett at Sunset Hauling who is insured and uses a single car enclosed fifth wheel trailer on a dually pick-up. He is $1.21 a loaded mile but can have a car to you in days. His mobile number is 940-841-2526 and his fax is 940-845-3557. They guys hauls butt. He loads your car in and locks the trailer until it gets to you. No moving the car in and out to make room for other cars, waiting to pick up other loads, etc. I confirmed an Ohio pickup with him on a Friday, he picked it up on Tuesday morning, and I had the car in Phoenix on Thursday morning. No way Intercity is going to do that.

$ 1,100 from CA to TX.

Very good enclosed carrier (was a problem to coordinate pick up but rest of the service was excellent). Don't recall their name (was a Rennlister recommendation) but could find it if you are interested.

Intercity Lines sets the standard for everyone else to try to match! The most professional drivers, cleanest trucks and quickest service. I wouldn't trust my cars with anyone else! Look at the parking lots around Pebble Beach Concours or Barrett- Jackson Auctions and the majority of transporters will be Intercity.
Call them and they will quote you a door to door price.

I used Intercity...RJT 993's post jogged my memory sufficienty. Their moving crew was great - husband-wife team; very professional and friendly.

Great rig. Definately recommend them.

Have used Intercity 5 or 6 times. They were great up to the point that I got my most recent car. They had no idea when someone was going to pick up the car, and no idea when it was going to be dropped off. I met the driver crew (who were great. all their drivers are top notch) in Vegas so I didn't have to wait an extra week to get from there to the Bay Area.

This is the price of success. They are used for Barrett Jackson, Pebble, and a number of other events. If you are transporting near one of these times, they have no room available (or they are weeks out) and the dispatcher is onsite at these events so no one knows anything about your lowly car.

Next time I will be trying a new service.

I used Intercity last year. From LA to Charleston, SC. I highly recommend them. Expensive but well worth it.

I don't think there is an average cost since it depends on the mileage. My cost was $1585.

I paid $1,000 for an enclosed 2-vehicle carrier from Miami to Detroit. About 75 cents a mile.

After rejecting 3 week turn around time, Intercity referred me to Reliable Carriers to transport car from Ft. Myers, FL to Newport Beach,CA. Paid $1231 by credit card on delivery which took 4 days. I believe Intercity's quote was around $1600, not a very tough choice at the time, no regrets today.

For the C4S, I paid $825 from Houston to Seattle.
For the 951, I paid $400 from San Francisco to Seattle. Spend some time getting quotes!
