Quick Poll - Distributor cap screws
How many use thread locker on the distributor cap screws?
The cap screws on my 993's engine seem to loosen up over time no matter how tight I attempt to tighten them down.
Your experience??

Agreed - never seen one get loose on it's own, and I have seen dozens of cars. As was said by Quad, lots of times the screws are too tight, or get oxidized in and you need to break them loose with a good quality screwdriver.
Not sure why yours are backing out - do they just get less tight, or actually get loose enough to loosen the cap?
Cheers,
Mike

And to add to that, the main difference between the OE and OEM versions of the distributor cap was (not sure if this is still the case...) that with the OE Porsche versions you could throw a 7mm socket on the "screws" to loosen the damn things and not worry about stripping out the phillips head, which turns into an absolute nightmare.

your pulley
Maybe grasping a tubular intake device but--
Have you changed to a solid crank pulley
rather than the stock damper type?
I've never had the screws back off and they certainly don't take
or shouldn't be taking any sort of load so your case seems
confusing.
