Default My 02 Shift ****???

Can someone please tell me what this shift **** is made of?? Is the silver part plastic or metal? It seem to be much much lighter then my "ball" shifter. It just doesnt feel like Porsche quality, very light, just nothing to it...

Thanks

I believe it is made of plastic, and that's the official RS shifter. Many have been happy with the feel and look of it.

In contrast, the MY 02 shifter I installed recently has a very substantial feel to it. It's easy to install, but vibrates even with the allen bolt screwed down onto the shaft. I've used electrical tape to dampen the vibration to no avail. Next step will have to be some type of rubber, but there isn't a lot of room between the shifter and the shaft...

That picture is the same one used on Tweeks web site
http://www.tweeks.com/shop?frame=5.88.2415 advertising the shifter and boot for $250. I bought that exact same one from them for less (mention being a P club member) and installed it a few weeks ago. It does have a plastic feel to it (cause that's what it is!) but I like it. It's quite a bit smaller than the stock shifter but has a nice "slim" feel. It's also a bit shorter than what I was using, but I got used to it fairly quickly.

I wanted a change from the really cool and expensive aluminum/carbon fiber shifter that came with the car 'cause it was too damm cold!!! PS - it's for sale if anyone's interested. (Suggest you be from a warm climate area!).

There was acutally a thread about the leather being a bit large when installing the RS shift **** onto the OEM shifter...Im guessing this "extra" is meant for the RS shift kit....
