insurance on a 993????

I'm 26.
I think that part of the higher S4 insurance _might_ be the theft rate of the vehicle. It seems to be a VERY common target in the Northeast.
I understand the turbo bit a little, but I would think the fact that its a sedan would have offset that quite a bit.
It's also my understanding that the age of the car (Within reason) really isnt much of a factor in insurance rates. It's very interesting, but certainly works out in my favor.
Edit: This is with State Farm, and does not include my multi car discount.

$1066/yr with Multi Car Discount (the other car is a '91 Audi Coupe, liability only) courtesy of Geico (yes, I know, they sponsor laser guns, but they were the only ones who were giving me a competitive rate!). $500 and $1000 ded. $500K. Limited tort. Pretty good given the fact that I live within 30 minutes of Philadelphia!
At my old South Jersey location (Camden county), insurance would've been $4K a year (with First Trenton). Thank god I moved right before I bought the car!
I know of someone who had to sell his Subie Sti because the insurance went through the roof. Why? Too many ignorant owners totalling the car. Owner demographics have a lot to do with it, along with the many other stats.
If you have an S4, I wouldn't recommend your coming within 500 miles of Newark, NJ! Supposedly, according to a friend of mine who used to sell aftermarket Audi parts, S4s are stolen as part of the gang initiation process. With the early models, you could drill a hole through the door and open the door latch internally which disables the immobilizer (you have to drill, breaking the glass sets the immobilizer). The thief than uses the S4 as cop bait since it's fast and versatile due to the quattro AWD. Audi has since rectified the immobilizer issue.

Rezal,
Yep. Earlier this year there were 30-40 S4s stolen in the new jersey area. All with the method you described. No B5 platform Audis had the immobilizer option. Really unfortunate due to the fact that most cars were found, but had been on the joyride from hell and usually heavily damaged.

$3860 per year for full coverage on the 993 and the Audi, No-Fault on the Mazda. But then again, I live in Detroit. They're gonna gouge me for living in the city and refusing to buy any vehicle made on this side of the Atlantic.

$900 per year w/State Farm - $250 deductible w/Multi car discount (4). Clean record. State Farm said it will be cheaper after a year when some my multi car discounts and good driver record can be applied to this car.

$583 with Unitrin. No tickets, no accidents, 57 years old, population 55,000 largest town within 120 miles. $500,000 liability, $500,000 uninsured motorist, collision with $500 deductible. 2002 Duramax is $465, 2001 Avalon is $398, 2002 Komfort trailer is $107. Same carrier since 1980.

Here's one to discuss:
Both cars are on the same Allstate policy
1995 Cab - $842 / year
Full coverage $500 ded - Multi Car - clean record - married
1985 Ford Bronco II - $860 / year
Liability only = - Multi Car - clean record - married
Whats your take?
I will give you the Allstate explaination in a later post
