hey wait for me racing team
sounds like a good road trip to me.
Bring plenty of beer, we have lots of members here in the Big Windy.
Steve, what do you think of jford's application?
(As a matter of fact, I do look like Dom Deluise, but not as much hair.)
First, my apologies for self appointing myself a HWFM member.
Thanks to JFord I now know what is involved in becoming one of the few, the proud, the slow.
I already have my RLM #031115 - 4660
This coupled with not having enough sense to look in the #%*@ OWNERS MANUAL for how to properly attach a boot cover ought to qualify as being truly slow.
If you're still looking for a 500 word dissertation on ones own slowness I can work on that.
I think a better title / function for me would be:
Official Blue Flagger to the HWFM Racing Team
Thanks for your consideration, oh powers that be.

Upon our arrival we would see that Mike looked and drove less like Skip Barber and more like Dom Deluise in Cannonball Run.
A month ago (see, I'm even slow in getting the word out, stike one) I was in Portland for an Audi Club event. On the way there I stopped in Sonoma at the racers group to get a new PSS9 suspension installed. They had the car two long days (another slow process, strike two) and got the car back to me too late to really drive it or spend any time in it prior to loading the car into the race trailer with an SCCA Audi Touring car. We then drove to Portland leaving about 6 hours late. (strike three) Because of this we had to drive a Dodge Diesel through the night (strike 4, Diesels pulling 20,000lbs are slow up hills).
Opon arriving in Portland I was in charge of setting up beginner excersises and was around 20 minutes late in getting people going (strike 5). During the morning, things are going well, I have our Guest speaker (a race car driver and race Engineer) along with me and we are checking out the students in the infield when we decide to head back over to the outside paddock to check on things over there.
Well the track is hot so the only way to do this is to don helmets and join the people already at speed. I get the ok from the tower and head out, since we are already in the car we decide to take just a few laps. (while not really ready, strike 6). So on lap 4 as I am building speed and learning the new suspension, way off pace I might add, I make the left hander into turn 10 at the end of the back straight going around 85 or so (way slow, strike 7) and the next thing I find us going backwards. Now, last time I checked, going backwards at 80+ is considered slow, very slow. (strike 8)
Well after getting the car all gathered up, and pointed in the correct direction we do another lap off pace (strike 9, and that makes the end of the innning) to cool off the brakes and head in.
On arrival at the pits we are discussing what I did wrong and are having trouble deciding what it was as I was not going that fast, didn't lift, didn't turn in abruptly, etc. While walking around the car I hear a hissing sound coming out of the RR tire and after checking we find that it is 12 lbs low on air, a "slow" leak makes strike 10 to start the next inning.
So, the moral is, to always check pressures right before going out on track.
Humbily submitted for your consideration, and since I live in Las Vegas I guess I could be team Gambler, as long as I don't have to actually go into a casino.

Damn, ok, still going for the Gambler spot.

As you know, I rarely get involved in HWFM ministerial administrative matters such as membership, instead conserving my energies for the upcoming merger negotiations with F1's HWFM Panasonic Toyota Racing and reviewing the multitude of licensing requests for HWFM jock straps and other wearables, as well as the Bobble Head Mike line of dashboard dolls. BTW, we've had reports that the Bobble Head produces a dangerous pate glare so we may need to include a hat for sunny days.
Anyway, I was impressed by Pete K's application. It is rare to find a non-lawyer able to string together so many words without saying much. That alone qualifies him in my mind, but there's more. His glibness, combined with his Las Vegas residence and his collection of racy cars, excluding the foul smelling oil burner, surely means he can provide the team with show, I mean, umbrella girls. I'll bet he can get you good seats for Wayne Newton. So, do we have a roster slot for a ticket scalping, gambling, procurer?
Oh, and Steve, there's no need to ever worry about Bylaws compliance. We change and back date them to conform to whatever Mike wants to do. Just like the federal tax laws.
I should also add the motto of AARP: "SLOW DOWN, SONNY.... THIS IS A NEIGHBORHOOD".
You guys take away my stress here from work just reading your postings
So, Is my being Sloooow driving and verrry late apex turning driving talents qualifies me to apply to the team???..
Hey, these are hard requirements
BUt the first one "slow to qualify", I think I will pass with no problem. If you meant slow qualifying for driving talents. 'Cause my instructor's comment on my very first and only DE (Green Group) so far, was "CONTINUE in receiving instruction"I have that documented in my PCA's Driving Logbook
Does that mean that "I'm slow to qualify"?
