Looking for input on an F car
I have my eye on a 360 Modena, manual transmission that I am looking to pair up with my 993:
I am looking for input from anyone who owned one.
I have my sights on a sub 30K car:
- belts done 1 year ago
- sticky parts done
- no accidents
I am not afraid of the maintenance issues, I can do it myself.

The only problem area that I know of is the heat exchanger in the manual transmission leaking coolant. If it leaks you're going to need a rebuild.
one other thing, don't put any liquid products on the dashboard. It sinks in and loosens the glue and the leather starts to pop up.
sfsportscars has a yellow 6-speed with I think 11k miles.

Couple of key things to look for:
Camshaft variator recall must be done. Major engine failure risk if not done. Ferrari dealer can track this to VIN.
Early cars had issues with flywheel ring gear design. Also a recall issue.
1999 had no pre-cats. 2000 and above have issues with pre-cats disintegrating over time. Debris gets pulled back into cylinders if the disintegration is severe.
In addition to cam belts you need to be careful with tensioners. They should be changed periodically (and ideally updated to Hills).
Change transmission fluid frequently. These cars like to cook the tranny fluid given the layout and location.
Other than the above very solid and fun car. Nothing makes glorious automotive noises like one of these cars with a "loud version" of the Tubi exhaust.
Hope it works out for you.

I would do a 6MT in a heartbeat, if I could. Love em. Sounds like "mgerber" has ya steered in the right path, on what needs addressing. I may research those items and see what's involved, and IF there's ANY way to DIY most if not all of them. :-0
Otherwise, my yearning for an F car would fizzle.
