First 992.2 HD Matrix successfully activated!
For those of you looking for the matrix headlights to turn on before it's pitch black out, I have some exciting news!
@rnlst_log activated the matrix headlights on my 992.2 Carrera a few months ago and I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute watching them work their magic. I was noticing, though, that they wouldn't activate until 25-30 minutes after sunset, when it was already really dark out (though with sparse street lights, but still plenty dark enough and felt they should've been on way sooner), and the matrix lights seemed to shut off even when there wasn't all that much light coming from street lights. Tonight after having a moment to experiment, they came on an hour before sunset, but it was already getting dark from some rain clouds so it's not quite an apples-to-apples comparison. It was significantly lighter out than when they normally activated, and being matrix lights, I'd much prefer them coming on earlier than desired instead of later.
I ended up purchasing a PIWIS setup from Mars (highly recommend for anyone who enjoys this stuff) and jumped through all the hoops to set up a PPN account and unlock SFD in my car so I could have some fun poking around myself, though it's been brutal sitting outside in this Florida heat waiting 25 minutes just for the modules to unlock before doing anything interesting, let alone the $17 to poke around for just 90 minutes.
The options are all under ZFAS > Twilight_threshold_of_highbeam_assist
The stock values, at least for me, were:
Bitfield Activation_brightness: 1.50
Bitfield Deactivation_brightness: 6.00
The max values are 20.47 and precision is 0.01 (again, at least for me), but I just set them to the following to make sure they actually did something:
Bitfield Activation_brightness: 18.00
Bitfield Deactivation_brightness: 20.00
I looked through the PIWIS coding data, and as far as I can tell all ZFAS modules for the 992 have this option (not just 992.2), but I'd need some VALs from some 992.1s with matrix to confirm or anyone out there with a 992.1 and PIWIS who can just check ZFAS for these options to confirm they're there.
Ideally, I'd probably lower the activation brightness just a tad more to provide a larger gap between the two values so the lights don't oscillate between active and standby (not that it's been an issue, just in theory a likely beneficial tweak), but I'll need more driving time to fine-tune these. It's just not easy or cost-effective for me experiment very often since each experiment costs $17 and a minimum of 30 minutes in this glorious Florida heat and humidity just to have 90 minutes to experiment with anything.
I believe the following is the brightness value associated with these thresholds, but I haven't been able to confirm (due to aforementioned costs and limitations with SFD on the 992.2):
BCM1 > (Actual values input signals) Rain_and_light_sensor: Test_Program_Brightness_forwards
I had the lights on when I grabbed a VAL, and turned the lights off when I grabbed another VAL (I was doing some other things, but figured I'd change the lighting conditions to see what sensor value changes) and I noticed this value changing as I'd expect for the light reading. It would be really helpful to see some videos in different lighting conditions near sunset showing this value being logged alongside the actual lighting conditions so we can come up with some good threshold values, but again it's not the worst thing having the lights come on early being that they're the magic matrix lights anyway. I do think I could drop the activation to maybe 16 and it'd be good. It was still bright enough out that the lights weren't super visible yet, so 16/20 would probably be a good combination for activation/deactivation brightness.

I’m a 992.1 by the way.

Awesome! Super happy to hear that! After some more driving around twilight, I can say the 18/20 I have set is too aggressive - I can barely see the lights when they first come on because it's still light enough out. I'm going to adjust mine down closer to what you have. No sense in running the auto high beams when I can barely even see them haha. Making progress towards the right values, though!
hi folks, I contacted Mars about unlocking my non-HD matrix lights and he said it cannot be done ... looking at UK and Canada listings, the standard matrix headlight does have functions that are disabled for US market.
- Highlights:
- • The glare-free high beam makes it possible to use the high beam continuously. Vehicles ahead or oncoming traffic are masked out in the high beam distribution, which is camera-based.
- • Functions such as the additional high beam and segment-specific dimming of reflective traffic signs further increase safety.

My question is specifically on who can unlock standard matrix (we already know the HD matrix functionality can be unlocked).
Did Mars say why he can't unlock the non-HD matrix lights on the 992.2? Didn't he unlock the non-HD matrix lights on the 992.1? Anthony Wong (9xx.com) unlocked non-HD lights on the 992.1 and Cayenne 9Y0.1 for a number of rennlist members including me. I was assuming that it could also be done on the non-HD matrix lights on the 992.2 and 9Y0.2.
Unlocking matrix for the 992.1 is trivial. Why deprive yourself of such great functionality for the remote possibility that the coding is reversed? It can be easily recoded again…
My 992.2 T isn't here yet (mid october I think), but if you find someone let me know! Wouldn't mind tagging along this so we can knock it out at once.

this is all he said: “A non HD Matrix HL cant be programmed.”
not expecting to get the HD matrix features (aka “magic carpet”), just the basic matrix features that are disabled for US but can be unlocked for Cayenne, etc.
Hi everyone,
Just did the deal to take delivery of my 2025 T here in Phoenix. I too will have the matrix headlights in black. Super excited to be back into the 911 after pre trading the 991.2. Got snookered by my lovely wife but that is another story.
My question is if anyone here in Phoenix has a PWIS and power supply (was told I need that too) that I could use. If so, I’m told I need to reach out for some remote coding help. That’s my next step once I can confirm that I can get the needed equipment. Of course I would compensate for shipping if need be or maybe a case of IPA or some wine if local.
Thanks and I’ll post pics once I take delivery.

Thank you! Definitely a future customer. I have a Mercedes with activated ILS+ lights so I know what this activation means.
