I think it makes a lot of sense for a publicly traded company to eliminate the manual from the S and push manual drivers to a larger engine Turbo. I think Turbo models were only like 25% of Turbo/Turbo S sales. Most people seem to just take the top dog Turbo S if they wanted a Turbo model. Now there's an actual reason to buy a Turbo, because you want a manual. And Porsche increased the average selling price of a manual by eliminating the S option and pushing the Turbo model. Smart.

It is a very difficult decision. Both would be great even if we do not know much about the Turbo.

Does the timeline affect you? If yes the GT3 will be delivered 6-10 months before the Turbo.

If you are third on the list go and pay a significant deposit in September and try to secure the GT3 in my opinion - it is launching very soon. The deposit advice in my opinion is just an attempt to help the dealer and convince him to really allocate the car to you - whatever we say I think it helps, you are giving them money. Except if people think this does not help in the US, which is really weird - logically and financially thinking.

Then if you get the GT3, you enjoy it and you wait and if you have a choice you can decide if the Turbo is more interesting in 1 year or so - you are not loosing money on the GT3.

Your post makes me to want to check even though I have no interest in the car. In the docs it has the same hybrid internal name as the GTS. BUT then why the delay?

510bhp and no manual and some form of hybridization are facts.

Let's find the engine displacement to complete what the car specs are.

So if I’m reading correctly, there will be no open top options with a manual going forward? If the Boxster really goes all EV, that leaves a Miata as the only choice?
Turbo cab manual? That couldn’t be much more than my Targa 4S, right?

If that list ends up being mostly correct, there's something for nearly every want, need or taste.

Edit, wrong

No manual convertibles right now is correct

Great point. I could probably get out of the GT3 and into a Turbo if that's what I decide in the end, without significant hit to the checkbook.

3- 992.2 Carrera T will be manual only.
4- 992.2 Turbo S, and GT2RS will be hybrid/PDK
5- there will be a manual 911 Turbo, that is RWD only, like the sport classic, but without some goodies.
6- 718 EV announcement likely in 2 months.

Personally I was shocked that the .2 Carrera S won’t have a manual option. But the more I though about it, this is all a business decision to extract more money for its customers.

A manual T costs about $10,000 than regular base Carrera. The RWD Turbo manual option will cost far more than a C2S manual.

Porsche will still “offer a 911 manual”, but at a much higher cost to 911 owners who must have a manual.

What do you all think about 1-6?
Would be curious if your sales manager has heard anything about a Dakar like option available for 992.2?

I’m very close to making a deal (hefty ADM) for a 992.1 GT3 touring and this info makes me want to pause and rethink. Looks like the ADM will be better spent if I wait till October.

All the recent news from Porsche on 911 has been negative in my eyes - more digitization, hybrid tech, lack of manuals and worse styling.

i hate to say it but the ZR1 announcement should really annoy 911 engineers. A flat plane crank V8 making over 1,000hp without any hybrid crap.

The only positive is the RWD Turbo manual but it will be over $250k and impossible to get without significant ADM.

I think the new GT3 will have a significant increase in price like the new GTS did, it will probably start around $200k so with ADM, it will be $300-350k.

I see one bright spot in this news: The option of getting a Turbo with a manual. Thats filling a gap in the 992.1.

No more manual Targas is not good news.
