I use a V1 Gen 2. But Uniden, Escort and V1 are all great units.

I think I have unidens in all my daily/fun cars. I have the R7 or R8 in my fun cars and the R3 in my DDs. (the R3 range is as good as the R7/R8, just no arrows) - good price point if you look at those as well, and smaller profile.
I have Blendmounts in most of my cars, and for my 911 targa, lost a few bolts between selling my old targa and getting the new targa. I bought the following mount for one of my DDs (BMW M2), and since I was going on a drive out, and needed to order a new Blendmount since I lost a few screws and could not source them alone. I tried this one in my 992. It is actually a more close fit on the 992 (radar is tucked closer to the mirror than my Blendmount). And it was 27 bucks (all Aluminum and super sturdy, fits like a glove).
For those interested, and for over 100 less. Worth a look at this mirror mount.
Also has the ability to hook another mount to it - if you are going with a radar and dash cam (I did not do that). But has additional connections if you want to go that route.
Thought I would throw this mount out there, as I have looked for years for alternatives that really fit well. This did the trick.

For me, the ideal combo is a radar detector + Waze (don't leave home without it). Some may also suggest including an active jammer for max protection, but thats more trouble / expense than I can justify. YMMV.

Uniden R7/8 seems to be the current winner. I use the 7, the reach on it can be miles from the source. Very sensitive on Ka, a bit lame out of the box to ignore K, after setup it improves.
Check Vortex Radar website and YouTube channel.
About laser jammers, legality varies from state to state. Cops will suspect you're jamming as they get an error.

Valentine 1 with the stock suction cup mount it comes with high on the windshield about even with the rearview, using a mirror tap (from Blendmount) for power. I don't like the blendmount hanging below the rearview mirror. It hangs too low and blocks vision imo.

V1 (most current gen) with standard suction cup mount high on windshield. Plus Waze.
