I have a 2021 S coming in Mon and been doing a bit of research before I get it. I understand it takes a 0W40 C40 oil but although i have been googling and searching here for 40 mins I still cant find a straight answer. It is not on the bottle or box or any Mobil spec sheet
I have 3 cases of this stuff left from my vette and want to use it if its the right spec.
Anyone know or can point me where I can find out?
Thanks

It does not show Porsche C40 among approvals.
Compare this to their ESP X3, which does.

If it's doesn't show the approval, I'd expect it does not meet the spec.

Have you looked at the spec sheet from Mobil?

Looks like I will have 3 cases of oil for sale, damn. Will have to order some ESP for next change. Thanks

This came up on a previous thread - it seems even some dealers (like the Penske dealers) do not use the C40. Look for the threads - personally I would use what you have unless you can easily sell it.

The C40 is necessary for the particulate filters in the exhaust. The 2021 should not have them and then the A40 IIRC will be fine. There are several oils out there that meet Porsche spec. I'm a fan of Liqui Moly. Generally speaking, any high quality synthetic in the range of 0-5 W 40 will provide ample protection for the engine well beyond warranty.

It is not just the particulate filter as discussed in the previous thread. I will only use the Porsche specified and approved C40 oil but especially while car is under warranty. You need a API - SN Plus oil (or C40) because of LSPI and TGDI. A40 oil does not meet the new standard hence the new formula and recommendation. Search Lake Speed and LSPI on YouTube.

This has been discussed extensively a few years ago.
I did the a lot of research and a write up (use the SEARCH tool), given my then impending oil change, spending quite a bit of time with LiquiMoly engineers since at the time only dealers sold Mobil1 0w-40 X3 ESP. As I mentioned then, you have other alternatives depending on where you live.
I use LiquiMoly 5w-40 C40 which limits me to driving at temps above -20F. I can use one of their additives to provide further protection for deep colds (we had -52F this past winter) but just drive my Touareg or Macan for those colder temps since both run on Mobil1 0w-40 A40.
For those not in cold climates 0w-30 C40 is fine.
The key factor (whether you have PF or not) is C40 compliance not viscosity. Thus its preferable to be C40 compliant than 0w-40 for 992s. If your local auto parts store doesn't carry Motul or LiquiMoly you can order from FCP Euro since they don't insist on FedEx or UPS shipping.

Thanks. As mentioned, I did a pretty extensive search but didnt find your thread.
My 992 had the oil changed but the place I am getting it from without me knowing (apparently do this for all their sales). Found out it was with LiquiMoly A40. Talked to the service tech at the local Porsche dealer and he said yes, the C40 is the recommended oil but dont sweat it. Put the C40 in next change
