Default What's going on with the 911 sales numbers?

2023 q1
Porsche 718 - 985
Porsche 911 - 2,441

2024 q1
Porsche 718 - 1,930
Porsche 911 - 797

Seems odd they are selling double the 718 cars and 1/3 911s..?

There was a part made with slave labor that caused a halt.

I think the huge jump in cost to obtain a 911 didnt help either.

I don't think so. Demand quickly outstripped supply even with increasing costs across the board.

Exactly. So I bet Q2 numbers for 911 sales will see a considerable spike. My dealership alone has received a ton of 911 models in April after a Q1 drought due to the holds at port.

When mine came in they had another 911 with mine and a 718. SA told me was unusual to get 3 sports cars on the same truck.

Last opportunity to buy an ICE 718 as they're going full EV

They also moved 718 production to the Osnabruck factory to free up zuff from production limits. That's why 718 is able to double as well.

Anyone know if there are waiting lists for the 718 EV? I doubt it. What is Porsche going to do if that car is a flop?

I think the source of this is…completely wrong.

911 Q1 worldwide sales were 12,892 cars a massive increase of 17% compared to Q1 worldwide previous year. Brand was -4% in Q1 202; but remember too many cars i.e taycan, panamera, macan and 911 are in the transition period to the newer model and dealers do not have cars to sell.

Source: https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2024...%20and%20March.

Now for Q1 2024 in the US there was a decline in 911 sales: 1930 cars in Q1 2024 vs 2510 in Q1 2023.

Regarding the 718:
5772 cars worldwide in Q1 2024, +20% compared to Q1 2023

In the US 797 cars in Q1 2024, 1124 in Q1 2023

Worldwise Q1 Sales per region:

PCNA Q1 Sales per model

I think the next too years will be the ones with real numbers and critical to Porsche based on that they will have all models ready to sell. They have really messed up the production in 2023 and 2024 by deciding to launch new versions for 4 our of their 5 model lines in six months. And it seems even for this size of companies it is still impossible. This means delays and dealers without cars to sell.

Anyway so 2025 and 2026. There will be cars available to sell BUT your best selling small SUV is now full electric and your main car line more than half based on hybrid tech. So critical.

We will see.

If anything, 911 demand is higher than ever.

I would say the regular 718 ICE (non GT, Spyder or GTS trims) is already a flop.
