Yesterday, I did my first DIY oil change at 9,507 miles. (Dealer did first at one year/5,000 miles; actually 18 months as car laid up last winter).
I used a set of QuickJacks from BendPak bought from Costco for $1,300.
The set-up on the QuickJacks was actually the biggest part of the job, both the assembly of the hoses, bleeding the cylinders, and arranging the lift for the first time.
The QuickJacks are heavy and difficult to move around. I had it set up the wrong way the first time, with the cylinder end towards the back of the car. That felt very unstable. The car was completely stable with the jacks the other way around.
I bought the special tool for the drain plug from Snap On (VW T10549) which in screwdriver tip form was only $10. The filter housing takes a shallow 36mm, the same as my previous VW.
I used my Autel Maxicom MK808 TPMS to reset the oil service indicator, which was a snap. (I thought the Maxicom would have some bidirectional controls other than just the oil service indicator, since the software recently updated, but apparently it does not.)
My only problem was that I wasn't truly prepared to handle the nine quarts of old oil. Although the drain pan/container was stated to hold 10 quarts, it wasn't big enough, as at least two of those quarts remained on top of the container.
Oil pressure came up right away. Also, when I went to check the oil level on the screen display, I got the message "No Measurement". Only after I drove the car a few miles, and stopped, did I get a measurement, and it was spot on with nine quarts.
Thanks for the write-up, I have a set of Quick Jacks myself and wondering if they were going to fit the 911. It's still on a boat to the U.S., so I can't measure it. Which model Quick Jack do you have? I have the BL5000-SLX (6" longer than the LX) and hoping they'll fit.
What year is this car, do you have PCM6 in it? Word on another thread is that for the PCM6 cars, you need the newer Autel 900 model (which replaced the 808). If you used the 808 to reset a PCM6 car, that would be an interesting observation, but I see you said your 808 did a software update, so maybe that makes the 808 work with PCM6.

Extended length wont fit, the frame will contact the tires. My 7000TL fits fine (70" length frame).
Hm, so this oil change cost you approx $2000 plus the soon to be cost of swapping out to the correct oil?
Including oil and filter, it was about $1,400, or just over the cost of two dealer oil services.
And no, I won't be swapping out the oil, that's absurd. From what I can tell, the C40 recommendation came about with the implementation of particulate filters on European models:
"C40 oils are used in newer vehicles and focus on diesel and GPF/DPF-oriented areas like soot and aftertreatment compatibility. C40 oils are also designed to protect against low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) and emissions control devices."
Maybe I'll look for the Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 next time, but if it's $33/quart I'll stick with the same oil, at $26/five quarts.
a suggestion...be sure to use a jack pad when using quick jack. ex: jack pad
Unnecessary, and I think probably won't work. The QuickJacks come with rubber blocks you must put underneath the lifting pads. You can't see them in the photos.

The car is a 2022, and it had a software update last April.
The Autel 906 was a lot more money ($1,500+) and I doubt I'll really need the bi-directional capability with this car anytime soon.
The 808 worked fine to reset the oil and service indicators, and it has full bi-directional control with my wife's Lexus (2004). There doesn't seem to be any other bidirectional control with this car although it does seem to have capability to read all the factory codes. And there were a bunch of codes when I tried it for the first time. At this juncture, the only code received was a U1111000 and U1121000 "no message received". Car seems to be performing flawlessly and with no MIL.
My version of the 808 also has TPMS capabilities which I haven't tried yet.
Asking because I thought only Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 met the 992 requirements.
Thanks.
I'm not concerned.
I think it's more important to change it regularly than the particular spec of the oil.
The buyer of my last car is still going at 152,000 miles even though I didn't use the "right" oil.

I'm not sure which model it is, but it's the one Costco sells. It just fits perfectly between the wheels.

Probably a good idea to use the recommended oil while you are under warranty, otherwise I agree.
