I don’t know why this is so hard. Just had service done on my CGTS40 and I now see the service record says they used Amalie 5w40 when the car, of course, calls for C40 0w40. I’ll have to call Monday and question it.
I had the same concern last week and this was their response. I just had my first complementary service.
Good afternoon sir, since the beginning of vehicles using C40, many dealers Amalie as they were considered the comparable oil to Mobil C40 and meet all of the requirements from PAG. We get this often and we have made sure that the oil used is up to spec with what is required by Porsche. Otherwise Porsche would not allow us to use it, especially on prepaid maintenance provided by Porsche.

Waste of time, Virtually no North American dealers are using C40 spec oil, that’s a European Standard that is generally not available in bulk oil. Save your phone call for something else.

The 5W-40 is an approved alternate viscosity to 0W-40 especially in the south and during summer. But, Amalie 5W-40 is neither C40 or even A40 for that matter. But it is the cheapest full synthetic available in 55 gal. drum which is why they do it.

Right, I have no concern over the 5W in Florida. I suspect C40 is only really relevant in cars with GPF filters that are monitored, which those in NA are not. That and to help prevent LSPI in small displacement turbo engines. All I know is I have documentation of the oil they used so I’m not going to sweat it.
1. Can anyone explain the difference (if any) between the Mahle OX254D4ECO and the OX254D5 oil filter?
2. I'm still unconvinced there is any meaningful difference between the A40 and C40 Porsche spec oil for our non-particulate filter-equipped cars.
3. For only $11.60 you can get an actual Snap On, Made in USA drain plug tool in screwdriver bit form. https://shop.snapon.com/product/Drai...t-for-VW/SDMV1
And yes, you can use a flat screwdriver, but the drain plug tool fits better, holds the plug on as you insert it and I don't mind spending $12 (it used to be $10) for something I'll use the life of the car.
