Newbie and Question on Homelink
Hi all - just received a CPO 2023 Targa GTS - after 18 months of searching for the right one!
Question: I got homelink setup with my garage door - when I back out of the garage the reverse camera is on - I had to close the camera window and then go back to homelink to close the door, but then i had to put the car back in park, then reverse to get the camera back on...is there a better way of doing this?

Congrats on the car. That's how Homelink works for me but I don't have to put in park. As soon as I close the camera window, I can close the garage door. As soon as I release the foot brake, the camera reactivates. Do a search on this forum. There are long stories pro and con about Homelink.

There's a quick shortcut to switch between homelink and cameras on the lower right hand side of the screen.
When I back out of the garage the little icon shows a house for homelink, half way down the drive I tap the house which switches the camera view to the homelink options, press/ hold the garage door then tap the little camera icon in the same spot to bring back up the back up cam before i reverse onto the street. Definitely not as easy as the old roof mounted homelink or the automatic gps homelink in my gf's tesla but that's what we got.

It is a bit clunky- I also programmed the diamond button for home link. The other trick is that the car has to be running (or at least accessories on) to utilize.

I tried to program Homelink on my new GTS yesterday and failed at the synchronization step. Gave up after a few tries. Need to read the manual for rolling code openers.

I've never understood why German cars do this. Super annoying. You have to start the engine in a closed garage and deal with the noise and fumes before you can open the door. Then when you pull in the garage you have to close the door with the engine running as you can't operate the opener with the car off. It's completely backwards. I've noticed this on several German cars, have no idea why they do it this way.

When I back out of the garage, the Homelink Icon shows up on the right side of the PCM screen (while the back up camera is on). You can touch that icon to initiate the garage door close. I also have a programmable button set up as well.

@PORSCHE if you’re reading this please give us a 3-4 programmable buttons so I can set up my 2 driving moods (daily / sporty) and determine my own critical functions so I don’t have to deal with any more stupid screens

Same I use this for start / stop. I hate the car stalling out at lights.

Depends on which options your car has equipped, if you have sports exhaust and/or nose lift for example the switches for those functions take place of the diamond switches on the dash.

Thanks all - i didn't notice the homelink icon when backing up - that worked - i just pressed that with the reverse camera on and that did the trick. Appreciate all the help

My daughter's Mini does the same thing.
