Default My wife and 911 love story

I guess I'm not as lucky to have a partner who loves the 911 as I do. She hates the Carrera 911 and prefers the MB SUV, forcing me to hop into an SUV. Therefore, I enjoy my toy alone most of the time!! Any one have the same experience, or it is only me here

My wife loves the 911 and she’s a big reason I have one now. She knew it’s a car I’ve always wanted since having posters on my walls as a kid. Once I could afford the car, I had a hard time parting with so much money. My wife helped convince me to get it. Once I got the allocation, I joked that I was going to get it with a PDK. She looked at me and said she’ll divorce me if I don’t get a manual transmission. She was serious. She loves driving manual transmission cars as much as I do.

We often take drives together. If she’s not riding shotgun with me, then she’s on her motorcycle ahead of or behind me. Since we both love driving, having the 911 gives us one more thing to do together. I’d find it hard to enjoy the car if she didn’t enjoy it also.

You’re not the only one. My wife does the same thing. It’s a jealousy issue!

My first Porsche was a 924 with no air conditioning. I was single, and all the girls I dated were impressed with that sleek black sports car. Except one - who complained about lack of ac and how bumpy and noisy it was. I married that girl - been married for 45 years. She still hates my Carreras (too bumpy and noisy). But OK with our Macan S. I too do a lot of alone driving.

Nope. Whenever it is just the two of us we go in the 911. She is even amused by how fast the car is, she does not like some of the turns so I go easy on that.

My wife loves to ride in the 911 but doesn't want to drive it because it has "too much power"...When I was looking for a replacement for my AMG. We walked by a Cayman that she really liked. she said why not get one of these? I said OK. On closer inspection she noticed that it had no rear seat. "we have to have a back seat". I said that only the 911 has a back seat...she said....OK . so now I drive the 911 ..our small dog uses the back seat ..and she uses her Audi Q5..

I'm a lucky guy and my wife not only drives a manual but loves the 911. Its almost an issue as she wants to drive it a ton. Now I have a Ruby Star Neo Carrera T coming and she's claiming its hers...LOL NOPE.

My wife even did a custom photoshoot with my former 911 T of her and the car and made it into a coffee table book. Life is amazing.

My wife isn't a fan of my golf passion though...just how it takes time away from family so I'm cognizant of that now and make way more effort to limit how much I play.

Bet she was quite a looker though!

Pretty much.

She refuses to drive with me unless I “promise” to “not drive like a madman”. 🤔

We have 3 cars: 911, Model 3 and a XC90. No kids. She loves her Tesla, and to be honest I don’t mind driving it to the grocery store if it’s the one on the edge of the driveway. The Volvo is for when family are visiting, stuff or my boring driving.

She doesnt really care about cars but loves experience of being in the 911 with the roof down on a nice day. So I don’t have to go it alone. She’s driven it but thinks I’m too stressed out when she drives so it’s not worth it. She’s right, she’s a terrible driver and I get stressed even when she drives her own car.

My wife was the one who pushed me from looking at used 991.2’s to ordering a new 992 because she knew it was my dream car. She’s driven it a few times but doesn’t like sitting so low. She will ride in the car with me but she can get nauseas with quick acceleration so I take it a bit easier when she’s with me.

This thread reminds me of the fact that a divorce was the best thing that has happened in my life and it was nearly 20 years ago. A wife forcing her husband to ride in an SUV when he would much prefer his 911 is just flat out control. Forget about that.

Wife drives manuals and she enjoys them. She even knows how to heel-toe correctly, though she did manage to money-shift and blow up her car's motor while learning to do so at one of the many track events we've done together. She used to track her mk6 GTI 6mt and would drive my 7.2 GT3 but was always hesitant to do so because she was afraid of breaking something expensive. Her biggest issue with the GT3 was that it didn't have rear seats and buckets weren't height adjustable (she's only 5'2). And now that we have 2 kids, she's thrilled that I sold the GT3 and replacing it with a more suitable daily-drivable 911 with rear seats and all the tech and modern conveniences of a 992. When I told her the 992 would have an auto-blip function, she cried foul "but that's cheating!" lol. I thought my first 911 would be the keeper, but it turned out it's my wife who's the keeper.
