There are pros and cons to both 997 and 992's. All personal preferences in mind. Just go with what you like and that puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. Can't really go wrong with any generation.

Newer always measures better, that is true.

The art of it isn't always better.

seriously, I understand what you mean but 997 is the new 993 to me, the summa of a project. And it’s a pity to let it go when you have such a lovely one. You can anlways involve some other family member into three pedals driving…

+1

And while I still like (some) new cars, we are not far from the point where I will have zero desire for new cars and will just hang on to my small fleet of antiquated sports cars. When everything is electric, hybrid and/or automatic, I'm out.

Only thing I would go back for is another 993, but aside from the current pricing, they are getting a little long in the tooth.
I still deeply regret selling my Pastel Yellow ‘97 C2. I sold it for next to nothing and didn’t even need the money. No doubt one of my biggest errors in judgement. Dumb dumb dumb.
Really stupid.

I think we’ve all done something similar.

Don't sell your 997s. There's usually a way to may something work if you really want to. After driving mine for 17 years I knew I would regret it if I sold.

It is?

So you don’t like ABS? Power steering? Traction control? Or how about synchros for the MT diehards out there?

Context.

I’m talking about interior tech.

Interior tech is becoming like mobile phones — disposable. It’s a shame, but interior technology gets outdated within a few years of purchase, and generally, unlike mobile phones, you are not able to get a software update to the latest interface.

This is because car manufacturers are not in the software interface business, so there is no incentive for them to ensure their customer base always has the latest user interface, even when the car’s hardware can support it.

As long as there is no safety issue, the sale is done, so no need to spend engineering time and money rolling out software updates to current customers.
