It is likely they have detuned the gasoline engine and added a hybrid system to improve the emissions characteristics.

Hmm...maybe Porsche has been holding out on the 992.2 release because this was in the works and they will just keep the same engines as the 991.1 with a slight bump in boost to increase power.

i just noticed this, but this screenshot confirms the 992.2 will be hybrid. The battery circled in red is multiple batteries stacked on top of each other, just like my Taycan. This is separate from the 12V battery (single battery). See picture below

At least one of the trims will be.
These spy photos that we've seen get posted are from numerous different test prototypes of unknown trims and options. There have been versions that have been spotted testing with the yellow stickers designating them as hybrids but not all of them have been.

So we’re dealing with a lower redline, detuned turbo engine with a mild hybrid system, says the interior spy shot anyway.

Could the redline be variable like how M cars slowly raises the redline as it warms up? Hmm then again, looks like both oil and water temps are at operating temps.

I think the new front end is growing on me. This artist rendering of it on a car with color seems to soften the look.

It looks good in the artist rendering.

Not feeling that
Nor am I bothered about hybrid
So I'll stick with my 992.1 GTS allocation

One thing that may have improved with the all digital IC is the dead spots from the GT steering wheel blocking the view. It looks like they packed the dials closer together and made more efficient use of the space.

Met my SA yesterday, GTS models will be hybrid for sure and he used Corvette E-ray as an example. He couldn't tell more b'cos they are not supposed to. The reason he told me is b'cos I am waiting for the GTS allocation any day now.

It could mean that GTS models will be AWD in future like Turbo/TurboS?
What to do now? and what the bloody hell!

That would contradict all the previous rumors of a small motor being attached to the gearbox. Also, I am not sure how they would make a manual transmission work properly with a hybrid system that drives the front wheels, since in that type of setup the power balance between the front and rear has to be managed by the computers in the car. Also, the costs of this type of system are higher, so there would be a big price hike on the GTS.

It is an interesting concept, and I could totally see such a setup in the GT2 RS, but seems to be a stretch in the GTS models.

And in that sense that have gone back to the design of the gauges in the 996 / 997 / 991 cars, which also had overlapping gauges (only analog). As a 3x 991 owner, when I drove a 992 for the first time a few weeks ago the spread out e-dials immediately struck me and totally explains why the outer most dials are hidden by the wheel.
