I love my 992.1 M7 GTS and know the drivetrain is solid. After that N63 I will never buy a first gen drivetrain again.

I’m waiting to see what the 992.2 brings in everyday livability. I don’t really care whether the engine is the same or NA. But, I’m probably in the minority here. If I was betting, I’d say there is no way the .2 will drop the current turbo design for NA. Why? In one word - China. That country drives what Porsche produces, not the USA. I think China is the reason the base 911 has a 3L turbo in the first place.

Not every Porsche NA engine is a gem like the GT3. Honestly, for me, the obsession with NA cars is simply bizarre. For driving on the street, turbos all day, any day, because you get more grunt off the line and power where you can actually use it. If NA, sky high revs, and a manual transmission are your priorities -- and you can't afford a GT3 -- that's what motorcycles are for. Yeah, if you want to go fast and have a truly visceral experience, two wheels is the answer.
...but I digress.
Hybridization will make the 992.2 Carrera the fastest Carrera that Porsche ever made. It will be STOUT with that electric power eliminating any turbo lag from the driving experience. It will still make the noises, but when you need to, you'll be able to pull out silently out of the driveway/neighborhood for that Sunday drive. It's going to be awesome and all of these "sky is falling" posts will look quaint when the car actually lands.

Agreed. The Chinese market vastly determines what the Germans at Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz do.
An individual whom recently did Zuffenhausen delivery and toured the factory was advised during the tour that the U.S. has surpassed China in sales.
“Fun fact up until around 2015 the US was the biggest share of Porsche vehicles when China took over.” “The US has taken back the crown as of 2023 (I forget which quarter tipped the balance). China number 2 and Germany number 3.”

Turbos are not only necessary because of China, they are also needed to meet C02 standards and fuel economy standards in other markets. This is why almost every automaker is moving to downsized turbocharged engines globally.

The 991.2 cars are substantially quicker than the 991.1 cars. Porsche also made marked improvements to the EPAS in the 991.2. With those improvements and other changes, a 991.2 is dynamically a better car than the 991.1 -- it's better sorted AND more powerful. Add in creature comforts like CarPlay and details like a modern steering wheel that Porsche still uses today, the used 991.2 cars deserve their premium over the 991.1.

Looks like something went awry as I was offered a 992.1 S allocation unsolicited. I've been clear from the start I am targeting a .2 so I passed. Interesting experience to wake up to though.

If that's the new base price, I'm out.

Anyone can make a video espousing whatever theories they want and post it up on YouTube. My personal opinion is that I do not agree at all that the starting base price of a .2 will be $170K. Sure, it's fun to speculate until Porsche makes their official announcements but until then, the opinions and theories posted on YouTube are not any more valid than the opinions of people sitting around a bar chit chatting. People like that post up videos with comments like those to get click engagement views.
