hahaha!!! This is funny. 21k miles in 18 months in my C4 GTS - not once have I ever thought “this ride is too stiff”, nor have I ever felt the car is too fast to enjoy on the daily.

Do not let those two worries be the reason you don’t go for the GTS. That would be a mistake.

I don’t get the “too stiff” comments regarding the GTS.

Can't go wrong with either choice. So many choices in the lineup it's hard to make a bad decision. Having said that, if you're going to load up a T I'd suggest going for the GTS. The extra HP is something only you can decide. There is no such thing as a modern 911 that lacks power for road use.

As to the stopping distance arguments that's funny. Tires and road surface can and will be the deciding factors when measuring stopping distances of a modern 911. Comparing one test measurement to another is apples and oranges.

I get a laugh out of the folks who say it is too fast to enjoy on public roads, bah humbug. I love going 30 or so and give it some gas to bring it up to 50-that is when the larger torque numbers shine. Or 40 to 60 or 50 to 70 or 20 to 50-- you get the picture.
@Chefboylee if you too find it exhilarating to give it some gas and go from 30 to 50, or 40 to 60, or 50 to 70... you will fit right in with at least a few in the GTS crowd. If you find it exhilarating to wring out a car on twisty roads at the edge of grip, perhaps with the nannies turned off, you don't need a car that has been called "over engined" by at least a few car journalists.

What people like @Staffie Guy seem to not understand is that the GTS is closer in character to a Turbo than a Carrera and the T is as close as you can get to the NA Carreras before they went turbo. Two very different animals for two very different tastes. One being better than the other is just a function of personal taste.

AutoExpress tested the brakes of the base against the GT3T and GT3RS both with PCCBs from 100km to 0. The difference between the GT3T and the GT3RS was about a car length. The difference between the GT3T and the base was less than half a car length. The small base brakes are quite impressive. A few of us have tested them hard both on and off track and they are outstanding. Brake feel is nearly as good as the PCCBs on my GT3.

I took out my turbos to save weight too.

I see a lot of jeeps on the road without doors.

Why aren’t there any Porsche’s without doors…to save weight?

That enables me to enjoy Sport and Sport Plus on public rural roads which aren't always perfectly smooth in Ohio, and to quiet the exhaust if I want to.
I'm pretty sure on the GTS the springs are like twice as stiff (I think numbers were like 72 vs 154 or something). This option I don't believe one can tweak as far as I know

But yes you can set an individual mode that basically drives on sport plus mode but with normal/sport level suspension. But I believe the GTS springs still make it a stiffer ride than a T (again, not not doable if a bit stiffer like GTS and up, but to my personal preference I would likely want a carrera/T/S level of stiffness max for hilly city roads if I have the luxury of picking my allocation).

I think on suburban roads or highways it's not palpable at all but if you live in a metropolitan city with hills and lots of road irregularity it may be a different experience as a driver.

OP while brakes are important I don't think that should be a factor at all when deciding between T vs. GTS. It really is splitting hairs once you get to this level of analysis.

Luxury/cost vs. raw ride. 99% of your drive both will feel great. You pick.

Negative. Live in Long Island and drive into and through NYC. Car is not too stiff. Period. This is honestly a non-concern.

That’s what she said.

I agree. For me, the GTS was not too stiff, was very compliant, very stable over bumps, and quite comfortable in general. My problem was it wasn’t quite stiff or sharp enough, so I traded for a 992 GT3 which will hopefully be firm enough.

But, different people have wildly different ideas of what they want from a suspension. So each to their own.
