I was referring to the process in my post where the dealer either has a car being built that is not locked and can be customize to spec or they make a dealer trade for one at that point. I only know going back to 2012 because before that I never talked with porsche dealers. Ironically I drove a 997.2 gt3 that sat on the dealer lot back then... through winter! I still disagree with OP position that he walked in to dealer and they can just populate a car for him in the past. That's just not how the assembly gets done. Dealer doesn't put in a spec and someone pushes a button and a c2 comes out. There just is more demand so slots that previously had no customer order and could easily be changed and easy dealer trade for a car being built don't exist. Anyways I hope OP figures out a plan. GL

Try to buy a Type R at MSRP

Isn't it crazy your daughters MB was cheaper than a Toyota. I had a relative looking for a KIA minivan and couldn't find it without an ADM. Meanwhile we were able to get 9% off a Macan. Bananas.

So you want any color except white black or grey huh? Youve just shot off another toe as they are officially done with PTS for 2024 and Aventurine Green is getting discontinued, so I hope you like red blue silver yellow or ruby.

Maybe it's fate.

makes no sense. Watch the production videos. They change colors between each car. Pure money grab to stroke the ego of the cars and coffee option crowd.

Yea, I'd love to know the full logistics of the individual paint. Its a similar, although maybe slightly less craziness with BMW. It all seems crazy.

No argument from me. I was more than willing to give $13k for PTS too, but apparently so is everyone else. Maybe Porsche should hike PTS to $20k+? Betting it might slack off then.

That’s up to you. But you won’t be hurting Porsche. For each person who leaves, there are another 20+ waiting to take his place.

Exactly. 8/25/23 was the day that that guy walked away from Porsche bc he couldn’t get ED/PTS/MSRP. Also seems like he hasn’t had an oil change at the dealership in about 3+ years. Unwilling to pay 1,000 over msrp for a Porsche 911 when people are literally paying 125k over for panel gapped dodge challengers and 10k over for Toyota sequoias.

20k will not even begin to move the needle when regular guys like me (I’m being politically correct) are forking over 35k for dodge’s version of PTS which only has about 25 color choices.

Not apples to apples, but I offered 40k for tartan inserts from special wishes and Porsche told me to pound sand.

I like it because if the person knows exactly what he wants he can get it.

I hate it because it's no longer about the car. The first question now is "What color is it?"

Sucks that the standard color palette is pretty weak. Pure money grab I agree.

My son and his fiancee wanted a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid XSE. On a 40K car dealers were asking for a $3,000-$5,000 ADM. Finally found a dealer near my house willing to sell it for MSRP but only to someone living within 25 miles of the dealership. They want the servicing.......... I qualified (24 miles away) but my son and his fiancee did not. So I had to buy the car and then transfer it to them. This was only 3 months ago. Simply stated the world of financed floor plans has changed. Dealers do not want the expense of inventorying cars anymore. For them it is a better model. I will note that the local Tesla dealer has an inventory of Model 3s.

I waited two years on 4 waiting lists for a 911. Made a cold call to another dealer I happened to pass who somehow got an allocation for a 2024 Cabriolet 4S who was willing to sell at MSRP because I live about 20 miles from the dealership. I took it and will certainly service there. Delivery in November. They won my loyalty. I am sure they are happy I loaded it with options but I am a buy and hold person so I will probably have it many years. Probably also do PPF and warranties. Based on my experience I give little credence to so-called waiting lists.

It sold out in a flash. I remember in the 991 generation years, when Porsche increased the PTS price from $5500 to $12,800. Some people scoffed but it had absolutely no effect on demand. The PTS line is perpetually out the door. I’ve been lucky to get it a couple of times but most of the time I am told: No soup for you!

cars like Type-R’s are also limited production. I love our FK8 Type R. Toyotas new Corrolla GR is great too, so are the GT86’s and Z Nismos. All hard to get and if you do you pay ADM. The only real difference is that those cars do not have g’zillion options to spec. Most there is one base and one premium version, that’s it ..and they still have some wait times and ADM but because of the few options it’s less hassle.

This sounds like a time traveler who jumped from 2018 to present... Covid / parts shortage / supply chain disruptions / parts availability causing new/used car inventory issues and prices to increase? TX: Must be fake news.
