Used or wait for new C4S
I would really appreciate some advice.
So I've been looking for a C4S for a while now. I'm on 4th the list at my dealership so that could be another year to 18 months as my dealer said before I get an allocation. The problem is the prices have gone up so much I'm not sure it's worth buying a new one anymore. The 992.1 C4S began at 120K starting and now has reached close to 140K which is ridiculous. With the options I'd like to spec I'd reach about 170-175K, which I just can't stomach for a C4S.
This has pushed me into looking at a used C4S and even though none on the market have the exact specs I would have wanted, there will always be something missing unless I build it myself so I'll have to settle somewhere. I was looking at this 2020 C4S which is pretty highly optioned and would be able to get it for about 141K, MSRP was 168K and it has 9500 miles. Anybody think this is a good deal? Originally I would have wanted a color other than black or white on the exterior and a red interior but this has a lot of the other options I would have wanted so I'm thinking of settling and going for it, especially because even if I got an allocation for a new build, 170K is just too much for a C4S.

I have to say, if you are fourth on a list and have another 12-18 month wait time before your number is called and then you still have to wait on the build itself, I would move forward on this used one ASAP before it gets snapped up by somebody else. Lots of really nice options on it and looks fantastic. Try to find a carfax for it and/or see if the dealer can supply you with any service records. Price seems fair to me. This way you're driving today or tomorrow! Life can be so short, just look at what happened in Hawaii this past week. I try to live for today.........So my advice, Get the Black one now!

Honestly I think you should buy new.
I think it comes down to what you value but I would want to pick every single spec in the car I drive. And if I'm already spending $150k I'd rather spend an extra $25k for my own selection and break-in of the car instead of not knowing how some other person drove the car.
In the end you should ask what the value of $25k is to you, what you would do with it otherwise, and probably compare whether that alternative use brings you more or less happiness. You only live once and if you're already buying a Porsche you probably know buying this car is completely superfluous to begin with

If it were me, with your parameters and listed thoughts above, I would do a serious search into the background of the black C4S that you linked. Have a dealer do a PPI and scour the carfax, search the internet, and see what you can find out about that black car and if it pans out okay, spring for that one.

I would get this one as it is very nicely optioned.
Just for yucks, I bet if you called the dealer which you are number4 on the list after you bought the car and offered it as a trade, you would no longer be #4 and depending on what they offered, you could jump to #1 or even get an allocation. Lists go in order of profitability.
That should tell you about the pitfalls of currently being number 4 on the list. You have a looooong wait ahead of you.

There will be 1-2 more price increases every year going forward so prices will only go up. You could always pick up a used car now and make the decision on whether to order a new one and sell this one when your name gets called.
There is an advantage to buying new versus even slightly used. In my mind it's a really big advantage. When bought new, you know exactly how it's been driven and how it's been taken care of from the very beginning (or as close as one can get to it).
