Default Used 2022 992 4S PEC LA "track car" - yea or nay ?

Hello all,

I have been proposed by my Porsche dealer a PEC LA (Porsche Experience Center from LA) "track car" like this:

2022 992 4S 5600mi with a a great set of option (MSRP around $156k) for about $162k.

Apart from the $6k over MSRP for such a used car, is there any red flag / advantages / disadvantages to buy a car which was tracked at a PEC ?

Thank you for your feedback !

Did he call and act like he’s was doing you a favor after banging your wife?

that’s how bad of a deal it is.

PEC cars are ran hard, have excessive wear at that mileage from people getting in and out.

The audacity to even charge a markup is crazy.

I’d prob want to pay high 140s for this and ensure new oil and brake fluid at a min, and get a good reading on brake and tire condition, otherwise as long as the interior isn’t beat from abuse I’d be comfortable with that purchase but no way would I pay over sticker.

Take PEC out of the equation. Would you buy a used car that was offered as a rental vehicle to hundreds of customers for use on the local racetrack? What would be the DISCOUNT you would expect on such a vehicle compared to a one-owner used vehicle with the same mileage and options?

Back in the early 2000's, my dealer offered me an "untitled" 911 that had been a Porsche Driving Experience car at Road Atlanta. I may have actually driven the car there. Had about 10,000 miles on the clock and came with a disclaimer sheet showing that they had sent the car through the Charleston shop, repainted the front bumper, checked the brake system, etc. Made the car like new. It was obviously run hard at Road Atlanta, but only after being properly warmed up and cared for. It was the best running 911 I have ever owned and never gave me a problem. I'm not sure I would pay MSRP or over, but I would not be worried about the car as long as it is what you are looking for.

LOL OVER MSRP for a used car that has been absolutely flogged?? This is unquestionably an awful deal.

Tell him you’re actually offended by such an offer.

I wouldn't buy a PEC car, especially for more than MSRP. Maybe for a significant discount. Too many nice used ones that have been driven to the dentist office and back for a similar price. I've done track days at Thermal using BMW M cars and I know how I treated them and it wasn't kindly.

Having said that someone will buy it, most Porsche buyers have never even heard of PEC and will probably assume it was used by an elderly executive to drive to board meetings.

There's a price for every car.

But not at that price.

The days are numbered that these dealers can get away with these bullish*t "deals" on a car that would have sold at a 20-30% discount from MSRP not that long ago.
