Default FAL Necessity?

My dealer is telling me it’s a must have. True? Didn’t have one on my 17 C2S.

This topic has been beaten to death in multiple threads - I'm sure you will find a lot of opinions.

The easy answer is that some people need it to get in/out of their garage/driveways - obviously making it a necessity.

Then there are the people that get it because if you ever even need it one time during ownership - then you have it.

Of course many will argue that the front lip is replaceable for a couple hundred $$ so why spend $3k.

There is no right or wrong answer, it comes down to your situation, and view on how important it is for you to have, or not have that option.

Personally I ordered it on my 992 GTS, I figured its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Thanks. That’s what i was thinking. On rare occasions, i would lightly scrape the front lip on my driveway.

Have it on my Taycan 4S, car is less than 2 years old, failed already, at dealership now for what it's worth.

Only necessary when you damage your front lip lol.

I have it and it’s beneficial in most cases but still scraped my lip a few times when I was not mindful of using it.

Either way you should be fine. I’ll say get it if you can.

With the aerokit and sport PASM I couldn’t imagine not having it.

I did not get it and did not need it until I got the Carbonio license plate holder.

Contrary to what Carbonio says, it decreases front clearance by about a half inch-just enough for me to scrape the bottom of my license plate several times and I had to realign the holder each time.

Did you get the carbonio for easy on/easy off with the plate? If so when do you take it off and put it on? Debating if I want this.

Taycan lift is air suspension and lifts the whole body at all four wheels. FAL doesn’t use air.

If you have no plan to lower the car, without FAL is totally livable. For people that plans to lower the car, FAL is a good option to have.

Targa 4 GTS without it and am not scraping at all. I have what I consider to be a normal sized curb, not particularly low profile, and approach on an angle - no problems. No issues with parking lot entrances or speed bumps either.

I asked the same question about 2 weeks ago before my C2 GTS locked. Consensus ? nope 50/50.

Went to add it and my sales exec said "don't get it" when I asked why he repeated "don't get it" have to think he said this for a reason.

Don't feel bad ... when I asked I got "use the search function" a few guys can be uppity.

Had FAL on my '2018 GT3 not on my 2016 GTS. I scraped the GTS on our relatively steep driveway on the day I took delivery. Did not have that problem with the GT3.

It really depends on your situation and where you drive. Adding it again on my next GTS.
