Rules of the Road...(these pertain mostly to the USA and for MOST States here):
1. It is non-refundable. Once purchased it becomes part of the car. The dealer will tell you it "increases" the value of the car - but we all know, at trade, it will be worthless and yet the next guy/gal will have to pay more because "this car has prepaid maintenance!"

2. It can be purchased any time up until two years after your purchase date. So while my car is calling for an oil change in 8 days, its in service date is May 01 2021 - so I have until May 01 2023 to buy this. Therefore YOU SHOULD NEVER PURCHASE THIS EARLY!..Sell the car? Out the cash. Crash the car? Out the cash. Get the car stolen? Out the cash.

3. The price is the same at all dealers. While I'm sure someone got their dealer to do some fun stuff, my dealer quotes ""Porsche price lock the PSMP for every dealership across the nation, they can not mark it up or discount the cost (even for the nicest clients we have!!! ha)"

4. If you are going to get your car serviced at the dealer, this will normally save you money. My dealer wants $1,600 (not even sure if that includes tax) for my year two service. The first year of my PSMP (year two of service) was $1,040 and no sales tax on this (at least in my state and I swear they tax everything). That's a $550 savings - and yes, my dealer charges too much.

5. If you are going to go to an independent or self-service your car - both totally legit, then this is a rip off.

6. You need to decide how long you intend to keep the car. See #1 above.
#3 is fact. That did happen to me before on a car I sold. Never got anything back for that. It’s good to know that’s what the price is. Just felt like there were different prices for every dealership.

The prices can and have gone up quite a bit over the past 2 years ($1,000+) so if you purchase it early you lock in today's prices for the future services. Yes, if you total your car you are out the cash.

Seems like a waste of money doing year 3 spark plugs with like 12k miles. And year 4 is 1k more than year 2 because of the engine air filter?

It is true, they had a large jump in 2023, however,
Prices did not change from 9/9/2020 till 04/04/2023, so over 2.5 years at the same price.
They then did increase again in 2024, but only by 5%.

Here is the real rub - I've found a local dealer that charges about what PSMP costs for the actual services. So now that I have found them, I don't think I will consider PSMP for my Boxster in 2 years.

A change to PSMP occurred earlier this year, the dealer can no longer defer services. So for my 992, which had about 4,500 miles on it, they changed all the plugs. If I were to be paying for the services, they would not have done that until next year.

Side note... the slimy finance manager (SLM) did everything to get me to buy the PSMP...
"Doug, you said you were going to keep this car forever, so why are you not getting the PSMP?"
"SFM, I never said I was going to keep this car forever"

"Doug, with service prices so high, I don't know why you are not buying the PSMP"
What Doug wanted to say.. "SLM, because it is a stupid purchase at this time and your counterpart was the one who told me that three years ago"

SLM also wanted me to use his shop for PPF, even offered to cut his price by $500 to cover the deposit I had down at Status Detail.....Not happening SFM....

Just picked up my 911 this past friday. I bought the PSMP b/c figured prices were likely to go up iver the next 4-5 yrs. And as others have said, the psmp pricing for the most part is the set by porsche and the same at all dealers. I was going to buy the psmp+4, but my finance guy talked me into +3. his rartionale was the added year was $800+, but since that 5th year is only a oil change, you are overpaying by 3-400 bucks.

If your dealer is only charging $400 for an oil change, then you should not have purchased PSMP. But too late now

Geez. Suncoast charges $250

The prices quoted here for services are 50% higher than I’ve been paying with PCA discount.

It is State and location within the state, dependent. My former SA now works at Porsche Naples - and if you service your car there, you need PSMP Mind blowing prices.
Here in IL, my former dealer, was $1,800 for Year 2 service. New new dealer was $1,800 for Year 3 service.

When I bought my snow tire set from the dealer (wheels/tires/tpms all ready to be put on the car), the dealer wanted $400 to put my car on the lift, take off four (4) wheels and put four(4) wheels back on. That simply blew my mind. The dealer does however have a full time barista, so somebody has to pay for that!

i called my local dealer and then called suncoast to compare prices in service. its insane.

local dealer (tampa, FL): 20K $2064 vs Suncoast @ $1400
30k $2672 (dealer said plugs have to be done regardless) vs suncoast @ $1300 if need sparkplugs or $479 if no plugs

i'll probably bite the bullet and make the drive down to do my bigger services

I was thinking of getting the PSMP but with Suncoast near by I will not!

I hope I’m not hijacking this thread but since we are talking about maintenance costs, i just got my 4 year service for my very low mileage 2020 C2S. It cost $2,360 (with 10% PCA discount) without spark plugs which weren’t changed due to the low mileage. (I know but it’s a long story).

This is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Has anyone gotten any better deals from other dealers? This was at Porsche Plano. I wish Suncoast was closer. 😁. Thanks.

So my CA is charging me 2 year prepaid maintenance for $3265. Does this mean I'm getting bent over? Am I paying for years 2/3 since year one is already free?
Are they over charging? Seems it's $2600 for three years.

Can I decline that at delivery? They said that and a couple of other things totaling $5755 are mandatory for all cars. Their way of ADM.

I'm wondering if there is anyway to get out of the extras too. Especially one is a ceramic coating but I'm getting PCD and then driving the car 200 miles home.

I'm planning to do my maintenance at the dealership as I did for my GT4. I'm offered PSMP for $1000 off. It seems to be a no brainer (assuming I don't sell the car in the next 3 years).
