Default CarPlay woes 2023 C2S

Anyone experiencing a “blackout” in the system and random reboots? 1.5 weeks in and it’s hung 5 or so times. Any advice or experience?

Edit: one “blackout” seemed to be the whole system, reboots seem to be only re-launching Apple car play while base system stayed booted

simple answer is Porsche PCM is not great
I have some occasional blackouts on my Cayenne GTS but not on the 992
your best is to do a hard reset at dealer and keep your fingers crossed

thank you for your quick response. A brief search seemed to say the same, suggesting the hard reboot and overall inconsistencies but thought I’d check to be safe.

note, great to see the warm welcome and helpful vibes here. Thank y’all.

I have a 2022. All my CarPlay/PCM troubles seemed to go away when I switched to a wired connection instead of the wireless. I found the wireless CarPlay to be buggy and unreliable. I think there is an update available for the PCM now at the dealer for the PCM.

Most CarPlay issues are fixed with a certified cable. Make sure you are using an Apple cable and not an Amazon special.

Funny how I have connection issues. I did receive this email yesterday!!

Notice ID: 251372883

If your Porsche experienced rebooting of the Porsche Communication Management System ("PCM" or "infotainment system") on or after May 20, 2020, you may be entitled to a cash payment.

A federal court authorized this notice.

You are receiving this notice because you may be a Settlement Class Member in a proposed class action settlement related to allegations that some Porsche infotainment systems (the PCM 3.1 system with satellite antennae) went into a reboot cycle on or after May 20, 2020. Porsche denies these claims and any wrongdoing. The court has not decided who is right, but the parties reached a settlement to avoid a trial and provide Settlement Class Members with compensation now.

Am I included? You are a member of the Settlement Class if, as of May 20, 2020, you owned or leased a Porsche vehicle that was equipped with an XM satellite radio antenna and a PCM 3.1 infotainment system. You are receiving this notice because records show that you may be a member of the Settlement Class.

What can I get? Settlement Class Members may claim: (1) reimbursement of their out-of-pocket costs related to PCM rebooting (subject to certain limitations), including PCM replacements or repairs, battery replacements, towing, and alternative transportation costs; or (2) if you spent time dealing with the rebooting issue but have no out-of-pocket costs or don't have documentation of your out-of-pocket costs, your choice between a $25 payment or a $50 Porsche dealer credit.

What if my vehicle is currently experiencing PCM rebooting issues or does in the future? You can make a claim for expenses incurred up to one year after the Court's Fairness Hearing. However, to get reimbursed for eligible out-of-pocket expenses that you incur after receiving this notice, you must take your vehicle to an authorized Porsche dealer for repairs.

How do I make a claim? You can make a claim by clicking here or visiting www.PorschePCMSettlement.com. The deadline to make a claim is August 20, 2024. This date could change, so please visit the website for updated information on the deadline to submit a claim.

To opt out: If you wish to forego these benefits and not participate in the settlement, you may exclude yourself. Opt-out requests must be postmarked by May 19, 2023. Please visitwww.PorschePCMSettlement.com for more information.

To object: If you wish to object to the proposed settlement, you may do so by filing a written objection with the Court by May 19, 2023. Please visit www.PorschePCMSettlement.com for more information.

that’s probably a big part of it. I think most challenges have been while connected wirelessly

I never have had an issue. The only thing I see is that there is a certain spot in town where it drops it. It does it consistently every time I pass that specific spot. Not sure if there is a radio tower interference or what. The dealer knows about that too, specifically that one location. See if yours always occur in the same spot?

I haven't had this problem at all.
Do you maybe have another Apple device nearby that is being picked up on WiFi or Bluetooth?

Not sure what you're listening to or doing but CarPlay needs internet service for NAV and apps.
We recently took a long trip into Vermont in our other vehicle, and CarPlay wouldn't navigate where there was no cell phone service to provide internet. I had to navigate with the car's GPS.
Listening to downloaded podcasts still functioned, but internet radio was also out.

It mirrors your phone on the dash screen.
That's what it does. There's no CarPlay without an iPhone.

What I'm describing is a tad different... It isn't an issue of apps not working due to data loss.. this is an Issue where the whole CarPlay interface goes black and freezes and seems to "restart" based on "dead zones" geographically
